Boy,
everybody looks great when they get out of the car on the first day they report
to spring training.
We’ve now
(Jon Niese,
Bartolo Colon, Eric Young, Jr.) experienced our opening round with the injury
list. Every team goes through this, especially the young ones who have a bunch of
kids who try to do too much, or the old ones who simply no longer can do much
at all.
My injury
list on the blog usually blossoms to around 20 names by the time spring
training ends. And though Mets fans always feel that their team owns the patent
on this malady, it just isn’t true. Every team goes through this and it’s the
main reason all those guys are invited to ST camps under a minor league
contract.
However,
two possible members of the final rotation and a starter in the outfield isn’t
the best start for this kind of crap.
Don't be surprised if the intra-squad game goes a little easy today.
And don't expect any sliding into home either.
