Gosh....There is just so much potential here in Cory Vaughn but he has yet to put it all together. Vaughn started out extremely fast in his first stint with the Binghamton Mets hitting .282 with 6 HR, 36 RBI, and 8 out of 9 SB. This gave the front office hope that he would be able to move up to Las Vegas and put the finally touches on his game before getting a shot to showcase himself in 2014.

However, tragedy struck when Vaughn suffered an elbow injury that knocked him out for over a month. After rehabbing in Rookie Ball and Advanced A Ball, Vaughn returned to Binghamton for the final month of the season but it was apparent that all the strides he had made earlier in the season had vanished due to the injury.

There truly is a lot to like about Vaughn though. Potential wise, he is a clear 20 HR/ 20 SB candidate who plays excellent OF defense and has a good enough to play RF. But his most glaring knock continues to be the hit tool. While Vaughn's swing has improved with time and coaching it is still a little long and it does not stay in the zone for very long. This makes him vulnerable to breaking pitches down which lead to high K rates. Irregardless, there is enough merit in his first half of the season to give him a shot in Las Vegas but with the large crowd of guys already there, Vaughn may have to stay behind and wait his turn.

Anticipated Assignment: (AA) Binghamton starting LF/ DH Rotation
Ceiling: Second Division Low AVG, Power Hitting LF
Floor: Power bat off the bench
