MM's Top 25- #10 CF Brandon Nimmo

#10 CF Brandon Nimmo (LR: #10)
Bats: L Throws: R
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 185 lb
Age: 21
Acquired: 2011 Rule 4 Draft, 1st Round, East High School (Wyoming)

2013: (A) .273/.397/.359, 2 HR, 40 RBI, 10 SB (59%), 71 BB, 131 K
2012: (SS-A) .248/.372/.406, 6 HR, 40 RBI, 1 SB (17%), 46 BB, 78 K
2011: (R) .211/.318/.368, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB (0%), 6 BB, 14 K

Last time we discussed Brandon Nimmo, we had pointed out that he was suffered from a sprained wrist that was sapping his power and slowing down his bat speed which was hyper-inflating his strike outs. We also indicated that we wanted to see a strong August if he wanted to keep his Top 10 spot on the list. Well Nimmo attained those goals and then some.

During the month of August, Nimmo hit .324 with a .473 OBP as his K:BB ratio was practically 1:1. The power still hasn't shown but hitting in Grayson Stadium makes even the strongest prospect seem puny so we are not worried. This is evidenced by Nimmo's home/away SLG splits of .311 (home) and .405 (away) respectively.

Believe it or not, Nimmo does have a bright future ahead of him. He has already evidenced an advanced eye with his 14.8% BB rate and as he continues to get game experience his K rate should continue to drop. Power should come next season as he continues to fill out, add muscle, and play in a fair stadium. Lastly, so far he has shown the range and arm to stick in CF which will keep his value high in the Majors. Look for a strong season from Nimmo in 2014 which will finally get us a true view on his ceiling and floor

Anticipated Assignment: (A+) Port St. Lucie starting CF
Ceiling: 2 or 3 time All-Star MLB Centerfielder. Good just not premium talent.
Floor: AAAA Outfielder

I REALLY have grown to love this guy. He handled himself so well last season through all the media coverage, injuries, and stadium issues. There is some real talent here and his head is on perfectly straight.
