Who is your all time favorite Mets center fielder? Some to consider... Mookie Wilson... Carlos Beltran... Juan Lagares... Tommy Agee... Lee Mazilli... Lenny Dykstra...
There have been a number of interesting contenders and pretenders out there. I remember Juan Samuel in CF, for example...not fondly. Endy Chavez was great with the glove but not so much at the plate. Ditto Juan Lagares. I would probably go with Agee and Beltran as the top choices.
Tommie Agee. He had power and speed and was a great defender. Still remember him stealing home to win a game in extra innings. I was so mad when they traded him for Rich Chiles and Bucky Harris.
Beltran was our best CF, but my favorite was probably Mookie. From bringing some excitement to those bad early 80s teams, to capping off the Game 6 comeback, gotta love Mookie.

remember Agee fondly, my favorite player of all time Willie Mays not so fondly as a NYM - but I have to go with Carlos Beltran.
wow this thread series is showing me how awful our position players have been over the years...
Beltran may have been the best CF but really he has no competition...
and thats what it seems like in most positions... we really have been a Pitching organization...
Let hope Cohen changes all that...
I too vote for Carlos and also agree that centerfield has not been a strong position for us over the years.
We've had Duke Snoder & Willie Mats patrol CF for us--OK, as relics, but still, Willie & the Duke!!! Who else can say that?

For me, it's Agee, Mookie, and Beltran. Mookie got one by Buckner; Wainwright got one by Beltran.
Only one Shea upper deck HR and it was by the Ageless Wonder, Tommie Agee. Unbelievable and unforgettable.
Jay Payton?
Just kidding: Beltran.
