$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
You wonder why Seth Lugo wants out of the pen?
Money could be one big reason.
He's already pitched all or parts of 4 major league years.
22-15 career, 337 Ks in 346 innings, 3.27 career ERA in 120 relief appearances and 30 starts.
That's darned good pitching - for a long time.
And it is reported he is getting just $2 million for 2020.
I'd say he is underpaid, wouldn't you?
"Grin and bear it, hope your arm doesn't fall off, you'll get a nice raise in 2021."
Baseball's salary ladder has busted rungs on it.
To me, he should be earning twice that much.
Your thoughts?

Whether or not $$$$ is reason Lugo wants to start we won't know unless he says so but I suspect it's more than that. Seems to me starting is in his blood, and than none of these players will struggle to feed themselves and their families even on MLB minimum which is more than most of us earn in years.
And to most of we mere mortals, 2 million bucks is an incredible 9 month salary. It's a shame that such an amount is viewed as merely "just 2 mil." Yes I noticed the 2 mil and that's indeed less than he should get given his importance and performance, but some perspective in the real world, is also necessary.
