This is a tough one... Who is your all time favorite third baseman? Some to consider... David Wright... Howard Johnson... David Wright... Hubie Brooks... Robin Ventura... have I mentioned David Wright?
it would certainly be silly to name anyone other than David Wright. that said, we shouldn't forget that Ed "the Glider" Charles and Wayne Garrett were a hell of a platoon for the Mets 1st World Championship team, and Nancy Lopez' husband, Ray Knight, was the MVP for the 1986 World Championship team.
Jon, my Ed Charles choice was sentimental - if I had a choice of him or Wright at age, 24, go with Wright every time. But I loved the Glider. What a great nickname, too. Amazingly, his major league career only started days before he turned 29. He made up for lost time.
Tom: my comment was in NO way a response or rebuke to yours, it was made without even having seen yours; think we were both writing our comments at the same time. Guess we all get sentimental about players from the good old days, which is why mentioned Wayne Garrett and Ray Knight.
JON, NOT AT ALL TAKEN AS A REBUKE - THANKS - BTW - I AM GOING TO DO AN ARTICLE ON ED CHARLES ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH IN MARCH AS A TRIBUTE TO HIM - FYI
So many to choose from...DW would have to top the list, but of course others mentioned above bring a smile to my face...Fonzie also spent some time in the hot corner...Lenny Randle...Teddy Martinez brings back memories too

I don't see how you can vote against David Wright, injuries notwithstanding. He would otherwise have been on a borderline Hall of Fame caliber career.
I have gone up and down the stats of everybody that played at my favorite position and no one comes close to David.
David of course, but Hubie Brooks is closer in retrospect (as a favorite, not necessarily in talent) than when I first read the question.
This from one who, as a teenager, foresaw Cliff Cook as the next Eddie Mathews.
Ed Charles - I loved the Glider
