  • Báez pulls off unreal slide, hits decisive HR
  • Rojas holds meeting with slumping Mets
  • Mark your calendars, 2022 schedule is out "For the first time in four years, the Mets will open their season at Citi Field with fans in the stands. The team began on the road in 2019 and ‘21 and played in front of an empty house during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. That will change March 31, when the Mets welcome the Nationals to Queens for a three-game set...they’ll take frequent trips out West to face the Angels, Astros and A’s in Interleague Play, while hosting the Mariners, Astros and Rangers at home."
  • Stat of the Day: Still in first place "Though their lead has dwindled recently, the Mets remain in first place in the National League East. They’ve been there since Saturday, May 8, a streak of 89 days. That’s their longest run atop the division in the past 14 seasons."

Today's Game: Mets @ Marlins, 12:10 pm

1985
In the Mets' 7-2 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Darryl Strawberry belts three home runs, propelling the team into first place with a half-game lead over the Cardinals in the National League East. Eleven years and one day later, the 'Straw' will enjoy his second three-homer game, going deep for the Yankees three times against the White Sox in a 9-2 win in the Bronx.

2007
At Wrigley Field, Tom Glavine, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, becomes the 23rd player in major league history to win his 300th victory. Great. At what point do we keep young players?

Mack Ade said...

Answer

When the game allows for parent teams to play more than one player at each position

Do you see Palmer as a CF or Inf? If CF - who is ahead if him on the depth chart? Mangum?
