I do not think these players by and large are good. I would like to keep Beracierta - everyone else, I would look for upgrades from other organizations’ non-retained players.

Is this just "wreckage" of poor drafting/developing of past draft picks, or are there any names in there that we will miss?

I am not as conversant with our minor leagues as I would like.......I see some familiar names, but nothing that seems like a loss.

This should open up some spots for free agents from other teams, I suppose?

Mike, I would say Plummer and Blankenhorn are both AAAA. Not sure they are ever going to be more.

Per DiComo: Bit of a surprise here as the Mets are not making any 40-man adds before this evening's deadline. Outfield defensive whiz Jake Mangum, among others, will be exposed in the Rule 5 Draft.

Hmmm, site favorite Mangum not protected. Never been a top 30 prospect in a below average farm system,27;years old.

I am not a scout nor a talent evaluator, but Mangum should have been protected. If he failed to make the team, he could have been,at least, a trade candidate.

D J, on the flip side, the Cohen Mets May feel Mangum is not good enough. No doubt that the Wilpon Mets would have added him to the 40 man. Remember, he missed almost 2 months with a back issue in 2022. Health concern? Inability to have enough ABs to prove himself? In fact, he averaged just 343 plate appearances the past two years, so he seems injury-prone. Is it because, like Lagares, he was too reckless in the OF?

Everybody

You need to understand that most affiliates are filled with filler players.

You just can't have over 100+ top prospects in the chain

And you don’t protect filler players.

The only guy I would keep on this above MiLB Mets free agent list, is Daniel Palka for a DH consideration. Why you ask? A: Because he is an older/veteran who has obviously hung around for another shot at the bigs. He's motivated and he is hungry. I like that.

If you will, go look up some Daniel Palka video on youtube. See what you think. He really is the guy I want up in the ninth inning one run down. A sure monster smasher.
