Bowser was a huge deal coming out of Harvard-Westlake in 2020, but it's never easy to pay a guy away from a Stanford commitment. Bowser, like so many before him, deferred his big league dreams and decided to head to Palo Alto. That's worked out nicely.
Bowser had a monster freshman campaign sliding over to third base and flexing with the bat. He posted massive exit velocities while impressively limiting his strikeouts, playing a sturdy hot corner for the Cardinal. The low-hanging fruit for Bowser will be lifting the ball. He was an extreme ground ball guy in 2021 with a launch angle in the negative category.
This isn't entirely foreign to Stanford as flatter attack angles and high contact rates have been a bit of a staple in the David Esquer era. Still, it's to ignore the impact on the baseball and the athleticism on the dirt. If he matures into ambushing the baseball like Brock Jones did, watch out.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed hitter uses a compact swing to drive the ball to all fields with massive power. His aggressive approach sometimes leads to strikeouts, however.
Bowser has the athleticism and arm strength to play well defensively at third base.

Am I correct that the Mets' luxury tax status slipped them from the 22nd pick to the 32nd? Is Bitonti at 22 a much better pick than Bowser at 32? Even if not, it sure seems they need to draft heavy on pitching. The system is largely depleted of quality arms.
I do, though, like the sound of Bowser as a power bat pick, if they do go with a bat.
Yes, the Mets first round pick is now 1.32.
Also, the return for any of their QO picks comes after the 4th round

I agree that the Mets should abandon the "best player available" rule for the first two picks and go straight starter.
With all the fine pitching we had in 2022, team ERA was 7th best. Without resourcefulness, this team could slide Ro 17th and 27th.
Is this a better draft than last year?
I agree we need starters but really do we have super star hitter in our pipeline?
I am believing that parada is the best we got and he is 2 years away
Alvarez is supposed to be a stud but 260 and 30 hr is a avg major leaguer now
And he still has defensive doubts
Baty looked overmatched in his cup of coffee and no defensive lock
So unless alexi Ramirez or Jett takes off in a monster way we have built depth not superior replacements
