Pick to Click: Kyle Booker was our pick to click in this space last year — why not run it back? Booker failed to lock down a job in UT’s crowded outfield last spring, but the Vols are counting on him to take a leap forward as the starting center fielder in 2023. A quick-twitch lefthanded slasher with plus speed and a bazooka arm in the outfield, Booker has star-caliber tools; it’s just a matter of putting it all together.

Kyle Booker, CF, Tennessee– The most impressive Vol hitter against Memphis was the left handed hitting Booker who was locked in at the plate in front of dozens of scouts. He doubled twice and also singled on a curve ball for an RBI. After seeing limited action last season (45 at-bats), the toolsy 5-foot-10 center fielder who will show a plus arm and an easy running stride that produces plus run times, looks to be putting it all together heading into his draft season.

11-29-22 - Four Vols included in D1Baseball's 'College Top 100 Prospects' list for 2023 MLB Draft - https://247sports.com/college/tennessee/Article/Tennessee-Vols-Baseball-D1-Baseball-2023-MLB-Draft-College-Top-100-Prospects-Chase-Dollander-Maui-Ahuna-Jared-Dickey-Kyle-Booker-199036344/ -

Junior right-handed pitcher Chase Dollander is the Vols' most touted prospect on this year's team and was ranked No. 2 overall on the list. New Tennessee shortstop Maui Ahuna came in at No. 17 after transferring from Kansas in June, while utility man Jared Dickey rounded out the potential day one picks for the Vols at No. 23, respectively. Junior outfielder Kyle Booker was the fourth Vol on the list at No. 80.

Booker is still searching for his breakout season, but there's not denying his skillset. The Tennessee outfielder has had to wait his turn behind the likes of Drew Gilbert, Jordan Beck, Evan Russell and others, while also dealing with an injury or two. Booker is a career .272 hitter in 56 games and has hit two home runs to help drive in 20 runs. He also has the tools to be an impact player on defense and on the bases.

Booker is a darkhorse at this point in the draft.

I currently have him as a late second day pick.
