The rest of this infield is full of question marks with one exception: transfer Luke Keaschall (San Francisco) will play every day and be a huge part of this offense. Keaschall has quickly teamed up with Campos in taking a leadership role on this club and his at-bats are elite. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound righthanded hitter sets an aggressive tone in the box without losing command of the strike zone. It is consistent loud contact with extra-base ability, and he also pressures the defense with his baserunning. His two seasons with the Dons confirm the scouting report and the 2022 numbers stand out (.947 OPS, 30 SBs, 37 BBs and 34 Ks). Keaschall might end up being the most offensive second baseball in college baseball this year, thus his No. 36 ranking in the recent D1Baseball.com 2023 draft class rankings.

30. Luke Keaschall, SS, Arizona State – Another impact transfer for ASU, Keaschall moves from San Francisco to Tempe where he will get much more exposure and see better pitching. He has played each of the last two seasons on the Cape so he is no stranger to good opposition, and this season should really allow him to shine on a more national stage. He has experience at third, second, short, left, and center, so he is definitely a versatile defender. There are some concerns over his footwork in the dirt so there may be an eventual move to the outfield. His wide base at the plate does lead to some balance concerns at times, but he does manage to barrel up the ball often and has shown true average power to the pull side.

A multi positional infielder from San Francisco, Luke Keaschall went on a hitting tear this summer and impressed evaluators with his production as an eighteen year old on the Cape. He clears his hips well when he identifies a pitch, and strong hands help him elevate the ball into the outfield even when he's fooled. Keaschall did make fairly aggressive swing decisions, but a lot of that is being very young for the level of competition he has faced on the Cape. The rest of it is confidence in his ability to hit. Has definite pull-side power, will have to add more muscle to take balls out to center and opposite fields. Orleans put him in left field a fair amount to get his bat into the lineup, though when playing at third base he did occasionally struggle with his footwork and airmailed some throws. Regardless, he runs well and should smooth out his fielding mechanics with time.
