IT MATTERS…EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULDN'T
The Mets are in the Braves world, and for perhaps the next few years, will find it extremely difficult to be more than Wild Card contenders.
Cleveland a few days ago had barely the better win-loss record than the Mets, playing an easier schedule.
They, like the Mets, were buried in the Wild Card race.
BUT…in their weak division, they had still Avery good chance of winning their division.
Hence, while the Mets detonated their hugely expensive roster due to no hope of a division win and little hope of a wild card slot, the Guardians went “waiver-wild” and secured the services of Lucas Hiolito, Matt Moore, and Reynaldo Lopez, in the real hope of sneaking into the playoffs.
Yes, which division you are in can greatly matter.
Which is why I want the Mets out of the same division as Atlanta.
Remember…the Devil Went Down to Georgia…and he plays in the NL East.
Of course, the Guardians passed on an old hometown hero…Carlos Carrasco. Gee, I wonder why.

LOTTERY PICK UPDATR
Mets lose while both PITT and DET win.
Detroit and the Mets are tied but the Tigers get the tie breaker and currently has the 1.6 pick
Thus the Mets in 7th but they would drop to the 1.17 pick
Pirates a game back but would be awarded the 1.7 pick
Realignment would definitely help the Mets but I don't see it happening
There are national rivalries (Mets vs ATL... ATL vs PHIL) that have developed and TV revenues are just too high to muck that up.
Plus the Commissioner hates the Mets owner so why help him?
No
The only way you will beat the Braves is on the field

And move in the fences!
May I offer an opinion, with friendliness:
We should stop looking at the hurdles and start looking at how we will go over them. The Braves are a couple of years ahead of the Mets, but the Braves were “saving their pennies for someday” for a long time. They were scouting well, tanking well and not trading any prospects. The Mets really just started doing that after the Beaz trade in 2021. That isn’t that long ago. The Mets are in a transition period, where they haven’t really had a kid come up into the everyday lineup since McNeil ans Alonso in 2019. Otherwise, they were stocking up through free agency, and as for their pitching, well, all they did was trade it away so now they didn’t have any. Those mistakes will take a few years to fix.
Gus
You touch on an important issue here
The Braves have simply built a better team either through talent development ansld probably a lot better handle of the trade and free agent market
They especially have outshowned (word) the Mets in the International market
The shakeup in the Mets front office is a good start
I think to accompany this they will add a much more talented younger manager and coaching system at all levels to change the cancerous development problem they have had
And, what about the Phillies? They started after us…. But, they got rid of the genius Girardi (truth be told I really wanted him for the Mets) and their success started happening immediately. That cannot be that much of a coincidence. Too, the Nationals and Marlins are trying to restock. The Mets have work to do.
The Central divisions both suck because the the middle of America is pretty empty and the revenues are lower. Pick on teams your own size. The Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, and Braves have no business wanting to be in the Twins and Guardians division. Heck, even empty markets like Baltimore and Tampa can catch up with a good plan.
And the Tampa plan is why you trade Alonso. This is not a 10 WAR player like Mookie Betts was.
Mack, I wish your comment was longer as I really felt the pulse of what you were saying. As I was reading about the tenure of the four people let go this past week, I realized that only Howard was a Cohen guy, and he was an Alderson guy probably. Just like the other three were. They were in their positions over a decade. So, I guess it really does take time to identify what you need to exterminate, and then act. We see the result that all those guys sucked.
And as for the report that the front office shoved the analytics down Showalter’s throat this year unlike they’ve done in passed years, did analytics pitch out of the bullpen? People need to stop pardoning Showalter.
One more important thing
Steve Cohen pissed every other owner off when he blew the.top off the team salary totals
They really are enjoying the shit about this collapse
And none now are especially going to help the Mets turn this around
Amen.
Tell Showalter to have his pitcher hit Walter, or anyone else, after one of our guys is nailed.
No
Tell him not to buy a house until after Game 1 next year in ST
I like our future. Think we are on the right track
They’ve got a ways to go even with Incle Steve’s $. If 3 or 4 of the top prospects dont become solid MLers by 2025 things will be a mess,75 win seasons.
