2025 Draft - Mets Pick 15.463 - LHP - Connor Ware - LSU

Conner Ware is a left-handed pitcher from LSU, selected by the New York Mets in the 15th round (463rd overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft on July 14, 2025. A junior from Madison, Mississippi, born August 25, 2003, Ware stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 221 pounds. He transferred to LSU for the 2025 season after two years at Pearl River Community College (PRCC) in Poplarville, Mississippi, where he developed into a top-100 junior prospect (No. 60 on Perfect Game’s 2025 Top 100 Juniors list).

College Career

2025 at LSU: Ware had a 4-1 record with a 5.48 ERA in 16 appearances (six starts), pitching 21.1 innings with 23 strikeouts and 18 walks. Notable performances include:

A win against Southern (Feb. 18, 2025): 3.0 scoreless innings, no hits, one walk, two strikeouts.

A strong start against Dallas Baptist (Feb. 26, 2025): 4.0 perfect innings before allowing a solo home run, finishing with 4.0 innings, one hit, one run, no walks, and six strikeouts.

Back-to-back relief wins against Missouri (March 15-16, 2025): 2.0 combined scoreless innings, no hits, no walks, three strikeouts, becoming the first LSU pitcher since 1963 to earn wins on consecutive days against an SEC opponent.

A win against Mississippi State (March 29, 2025): 1.0 scoreless relief inning, no hits, two walks, one strikeout.

From March 29 to May 15, he allowed just four earned runs over 9.2 innings in nine appearances.

2023-2024 at PRCC:2024: Two saves in seven appearances (two starts), 1.80 ERA, 21 strikeouts in 15.0 innings.

Role at LSU: Ware was a candidate for the starting rotation but primarily served as a middle reliever due to control issues (7.59 walks per nine innings). He started four non-conference games and one SEC game against South Carolina (May 15, 2025).

Repertoire

Fastball: 91-94 mph, occasionally touching 96 mph, with good life and arm-side run, effective for generating weak contact.

Sweeper: 77-80 mph, high-spin (2700-2800 rpm), with sharp horizontal break, serving as his primary out-pitch for swing-and-miss potential. Described as a standout pitch that complements his fastball.

Slider: Upper-70s to low-80s, with high spin rates, used as a secondary breaking ball to keep hitters off-balance.

Changeup: Low-80s, a developing pitch with some fade, used sparingly but showing potential as a third offering.

His fastball-sweeper combination is his strength, with the high-spin sweeper being his best pitch, though his command needs refinement to maximize effectiveness
