Mike Puma NY Post: Soul-crushing loss will come back tohaunt the Mets. “Bobby Parnell, who had been so effective since his return from Tommy John surgery in early June, surrendered successive two-out hits in the eighth inning that scored three runs, and the Mets lost 4-3 at Nationals Park to fall three games behind Washington in the NL East…The right-hander walked Ian Desmond with one out and Matt den Dekker singled. Parnell then recorded the second out, before uncorking a wild pitch that moved the runners to second and third. Michael A. Taylor followed with a two-run single and Danny Espinosa’s RBI double put the Nationals ahead.”

The loss dropped the Mets to 3 games back of the 1st Place Nationals.
