So…
They follow up from a pitcher
that is out all next season, to another one that only pitched four games.
Is this the beginning of a
trend?
Hall does look like he was
worth drafting and only time will tell if he is converted to a starter.
Good pick.

I like Hall pick. Talent.
It’s pretty clear with some of these picks that the Mets decided that with so few top picks, and late picks in every round, to chase upside with guys who for one reason or another (injury, etc) have fallen on boards. Given the sudden emergence of so much good young pitching in the lower half of the system (now rising into the upper half), and confidence in their lab and development team, they can afford to wait on a guy or two who will take a year off following TJS, or projects with exceptional traits who haven’t quite put it together yet.
I like that they took two bats to start, and then focused on pitching, which is way more of a crapshoot, but also, if even three of those pitchers make it to Queens, with one being impact, that’s a good pitching draft.
This is one of the few picks in this draft that I am a fan of
Too many pitchers needing work
I think that with so many strong prospect pitchers already in the system, they feel they have time to try out high reward/high risk pitchers. I still remember one year when the Mets cut a large # of minors pitchers who combined had a winning record and an ERA under 4, but they knew they lacked the talent to climb high.
