Lookout Landing had a special feature on Louisville catcher Henry Davis -

 

I’m a pretty firm believer Davis is a minor swing tweak away from being one of the 3 or 4 best college bats in this class. If the game power can catch up to the already impressive defensive actions behind the plate, Davis will see his name flying up draft boards next spring.

 

For now, you’ll see his name hovering in the 20-35 range on most boards, but given the underlying data, the defensive polish, and the lengthy track record of success, Davis is a guy I see elevating his stock as we approach next July, ultimately hearing his name called inside the Top 20 picks.

Really impressive outing from 2021 FSU commit Jackson Baumeister. Sent down all 9 batters he faced with 6 Ks. Worked up tempo and attacked for strikes sitting 90-93 with the fastball. Mixed in the CB at 74-76 & CH at 84-85. Both above average pitches

  

First look at new IMG transfer, 2021 Arkansas commit Drew Gray. Tall, lanky frame with a clean athletic delivery. Fastball sitting 88-91 mph with a 80-81 slider to mix

  

2021 FSU commit Jaime Ferrer has been on the barrel all day. Takes this 94 mph fastball back the other way for a two-run homer.

 2021 Florida commit Ty Evans has really swung the bat well today. Physical, athletic outfielder. Gets his second hit of the day here as he lets the ball travel and drives it the other way.

Uncommitted ‘21 C Carter Allen knew it was gone the moment he hit it. Bat speed and pull-side pop. Handling some high level arms behind the dish all weekend.

Noah Carter (2021 SC) feeling it at the plate today with a long double in game one and this grand slam here in game two

 

Jay Woolfolk (2021 VA) comes in, in relief at 90-93 mph with a few 94’s and topping at 95 mph working most effectively to the arm side

 

Grant Fontenot (2021 LA) looked sharp this morning. Opened 90-92/4, physical kid, good look at 3 pitches here in FB, CH (84-85), and SL (78-79)

 

‘21 RHP Tanner McDougal (NV) looking good, FB in 90-94 range, CB mid-70’s and CH mid-80’s

My first look at McDougle and it’s intriguing. High-spin FB that’s getting 2500-2600 on TrackMan, CB is a little low-efficiency but has been over 3000rpm, missing bats with very low-spin CH. Pretty intriguing, up to 4, arm speed there. Definite follow

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Tyree Reed sighting. Haven't seen the kid play since May. Looks noticeably stronger. Still has the impressive swing from before. No signs of rust. Big weekend for Reed going into WWBA this week. 1st round projection.

 

Had a scouting supervisor at the event tell me Reed "looked like Jason Heyward up there" and I can't unsee the similarities in the swing.

 

Another absolute tank from Lebanon, TN OF Camden Hayslip. Has destroyed RHP this summer, but very good to see him keeping the front hip in on this breaking ball off a lefty. One of the better power/speed guys in the class. #95 on the Prospects Live big board

One of my favorite lefties is Carter Holton, love the FB potential and dynamic breaking ball.

 

Middle infielder Kahlil Watson was one of my favorites at PGAAC looks in total control in the batter's box, scooping one off the shoe-tops for a down-the-line double, plus athleticism and barrel control

 

Nothing has changed my opinion on infielder Jordan Lawlar, still looks like the top prep prospect for the '21 class

Jordan Lawlar is so, so good. Gets two high fastballs he swings under... lays off a slider on the corner... gets another high fastball from Thatcher Hurd, adjusts, drives it deep into the RCF gap for a triple. Pretty special hit tool from this young man

We currently have the Texas native going No. 4 to the Red Sox in our 'Way Too Early' mock draft.

A lot of action for Marcelo Mayer at SS in the first. One error clanked off his glove on a fairly routine backhand, but he also made a slick diving stop up the middle and a routine play on a slow-roller on a broken bat ground ball. He glides around the field.

 

 

Tyler Jennings  - @TylerJennings24

 

Brady House had a double earlier off a curveball, and now he has a single off a 73 MPH slider. Really good bat speed, shortened up his swing to get to this pitch and send back up the middle. Hoping to see more hits this weekend from House

 

 We have a Tyree Reed sighting. First time seeing him in person, the bat speed is ridiculous. Looks like he hasn't missed a beat, two loud flyouts so far.

Tyree Reed is going to be a monster with 10 more pounds of good weight and a little more core strength. His swing is among the best I've seen in the class. Built for damage. If he makes it to Oregon State (he shouldn't), he's got a 1.1 profile in 2024.
