I did a list on Tuesday of hot hitters in the system.
I hit 10, and left a few guys off the 10.
Hitting overall has been decent in the Mets minors.
Mets minors pitching has fewer truly hot hurlers. Just one of those years - injuries, call-ups, whatever.
There are pitchers who are excelling though.
Who do I think are the dozen hottest pitchers in the Mets minors in 2021? Here goes:
SYRACUSE
None, really.
Sanabia has briefly pitched well, but he is 32 and beyond prospect age.
Tylor Megill did well there, though, albeit briefly. Now we know why.
So, no hot prospects there, still 12 to go.
BINGHAMTON
A pair of 26 year old lefties are doing well.
ANDREW MITCHELL - 3-1, 0.99 WHIP, 18 G, 32 IP, 37 Ks. Like to see him get promoted to Syracuse.
JOSH WALKER - 8-1, 0.87 WHIP, 2.62 ERA, 65 IP, 65 Ks. Like to see him get promoted to Syracuse. (And so they did last on Wednesday).
Walker and Mitchell are 11-2 in a year where the Mets minors is 50 games below .500. Very impressively standing out.
Besides those two:
ALAN WINANS - 1-2, 1.26, 0.84 WHIP, 17 G, 22 IP, 24 Ks, 2 for 2 in saves. Keep it up, Alan (25 year old righty).
ERIC ORZE - 5th rounder in 2020, pitched pretty well in Brooklyn and got jumped up to Binghamton, where he has pitched even better. Interesting. 38 Ks in 28 IP, and a 3.58 ERA.
JARED ROBINSON - 26 year old righty whose control has improved each month, and who has fanned 52 in 32 IP. Keep improving, Jared. I love strikeouts.
BROOKLYN
JUSTIN LASKO - 30th rounder in 2019 is 4-4, 2.87, 69 IP, 69 Ks. Lots of innings. Keep it up, Justin, who was good in his first year in 2019 too.
MITCH RAGAN and ANDREW EDWARDS - 1.61 ERA and 2.22 ERA for these two relievers in a combined 47 IP. May they have their tickets to Binghamton punched soon.
ST LUCIE
J.T. GINN - the crown pitching jewel of the system (given that Matt Allan is injured and Kumar Rocker is not yet pitching), Ginn is a sterling 2-1, 2.56 in 39 innings coming off TJS. Very encouraging. Keep rolling. (Just promoted to Brooklyn).
LUIS MONTAS - 4-0, 3 saves, 0.87 ERA in 21 IP spanning 12 outings. Outstanding career debut for the 20 year old. Hey, and he just won another game Wednesday night in relief (5-0)!
WILLY TAVERAS - 35:3 K to walk ratio, so I guess he can throw strikes at will. In just 25 innings, and 4 saves, too.
That about recaps the hotter hurlers. I am most excited about Ginn and Orze, but would sure like to see Mitchell and Walker head to Syracuse and have success. Also, I am very anxious to see if Montas can continue to shine.
PROLIFIC PERFORMERS ON WEDNESDAY:
Jose Peroza: 4 for 4, 3 errors, 2 RBIs. No partridge in a pear tree.
Hayden Senger: 3 for 4. The AA catcher's slash line is .309/.378/.504 in 155 plate appearances. Belongs in the Mets' top 25, IMO. And in AAA, it seems.
And, of course, Marcus Stroman, who tossed an absolute gem - 8 shutout innings, 1 hit allowed. And Dom Smith with a Grand Slam.

Lets not forget Luis and Tomas their both doing very well and Luis with no batting gloves!
Great Analysis on the pitchers listed - just like the hitters piece.
Tom - FYI - Andrew Edwards is in Binghamton now. Andrew Mitchell was promoted to Syracuse last week. He pitched for them last night.
Good to know on those promotions, John.
Luis and Tomas have done admirably - compare to the dreck back up on past seasons.
As I outlined in my 2 articles, there is a lot of talent, mostly hitting. Bleacher Reports post-draft ranks the Mets 7th best. Their focus is on players who are likely to reach the big leagues, as stars, competent players and fringe players. I don't know the other teams' prospects that well, but after adding Kumar, I am not at all surprised at 7th.
It's no wonder they concentrated on pitching during the draft.
Ray, you are so right.
I wonder when we will start to see draftees playing for St Lucie or the FSL team.
Former prospect Isaiah Greene (Lindor trade) is playing in rookie ball and has a .522 OBP after 10 games.
