Trey Snyder is a 2024 SS/IF with a 6-2 197 lb. frame from Kearney, MO who attends Liberty North. Big and strong athletic build. Right handed hitter, has a simple load and trigger and an easy rhythm to his swing, sinks into his back hip well, effortless swing mechanics that result in big bat speed, more a line drive swing plane at present with big bat speed and consistent 100+ exit velos, high ceiling offensive talent. 6.65 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has good footwork and works through the ball well, quick transfer and release, still developing consistency with his glove positioning, plenty of raw arm strength across the diamond. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Tennessee. Named to the Perfect Game All-American Classic Team.

“Trey Snyder makes a game that is extremely difficult for many high school athletes look easy. He thrives in pressure situations and he has some of the softest and quickest hands I’ve seen from a high school shortstop. He’s also one of the most humble young men around and he plays the game the right way.”

John Sipes

Head Coach head coach at Platte County High

The New York Mets have selected Tennessee infielder commit Trey Snyder in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Now he will have the tough decision to make on whether to begin his pro career now or continue on to play in college.

Snyder just wrapped up his senior season at Liberty North (MO) High School. He was named the Missouri High School Gatorade Player of the Year, becoming the second player in his school’s history to claim the award.

Snyder helped lead Liberty North to back-to-back state championships in 2022 and 2023 before finishing in third place this past season. He batted .391 as a senior with seven home runs, 36 RBI and 46 runs across 40 games.

Snyder was also named a first team All-State selection and ranked as the No. 1 prospect from Missouri according to Perfect Game. He mostly played shortstop during his high school career and projects either there or as a third baseman at the next level.

Even if he doesn’t decide to enter the ma

jor leagues now, Snyder should still have a big impact for Tony Vitello and Tennessee next season and has a bright MLB future.

Snyder profiles as one of the better all-around prospects in this class. At 6'2, 197 pounds, he's well-built and extremely athletic with a bit of projectability to play with. He's got one of the better hit tools in the prep ranks, shooting the ball around the field with a swing that is more suited for line drives than fly balls thanks to a flatter swing plane. He's got solid bat speed and very quick hands, as well. There's not a ton of power output presently with the lack of loft and leverage, though Snyder does have solid average raw power that will be utilized more with a loftier swing plane. He does limit swing-and-miss, too, though he can get rather aggressive at the dish. In the field, Snyder uses his athleticism and moves well laterally with good footwork and very good hands. His transfers are quick and he's got enough arm strength to handle shortstop at the next level.
