The Mets have 4 teams below High A.
The four, and their records through Saturday’s day games, are as follows:
St Lucie (A): 27-53
FCL Mets: 18-25
DSL Orange 8-15
DSL Blue: 11-12
Combined, 64-95.
The 1966 Mets, by comparison, finished 66-95.
Boy the Mets sure know how to pick them, huh? Me? I prefer 95-66.
Higher up, Binghamton and Brooklyn combined were 3 games under .500.
Only veteran-laden Syracuse is doing well (53-32), primarily because they are very veteran-laden.
Other than the heavy weighting of veterans in AAA, same old Mets down on the farm. No bumper crops.
ERIC ORZE LOSES HIS DEBUT
Let’s not write the guy off.
First of all, it apparently was a F.O. move Monday by the Giveaway Mets.
Trying to keep Christian Scott’s pitch down after throwing 95 pitches last time, he gets pulled after 5.2 innings and 70+ pitches.
C’mon, give him one more batter…he had, after all, allowed just 1 hit, a 2 run HR.
Pulling him in a 2-2 game meant Scott had no chance for a W, his first as Met.
One more batter maybe gets him to 80 pitches? The horror!
They brought in the debuting Eric Orze, who gamely fought, but he walked All Star Reynolds on 8 pitches and 2 very tight strikeout pitches that were called “rookie-no-call balls”, and then Cruz singled on pitch 6(?) of another tough duel, then Tellez knocked in go-ahead run with a soft infield grounder single that Vientos nicely dove for and gloved but then couldn’t quite nail Tellez at first. No outs recorded by Orze, but I think he pitched well, but unluckily. Hit 95 a few times and threw nice change ups.
Tough luck pitcher.
Houser had an uncharacteristically bad relief outing that let the game go from 3-2 to 8-2.
Brandon Nimmo homered on a 3-0 count for the Mets’ 2 runs in the 8-2 loss. They said it was the only time in his career he had swung at a 3-0 pitch! Do it more often, Brandon.
Alonso, Lindor, Torrens and Iglesias combined for an unhelpful 0 for 15.

There is some considerable talent on those lower level teams that just haven't produced well this season
I’ve heard that in the lower minors, records don’t matter. But, the record usually speaks for itself and as Mack said, the guys aren’t performing like expected.
Gus and Mack, the two DSL teams for Teas are a combined 35-12.
In the FCL, the marlins team is 33-11.
We never get that.
FCL Blue Jays are 11-36.
One of the greatest non-Mets players in the DSL (.395/.490/.716) has one of baseball’s greatest names: JESUS MADE
Jacob Reimer prospect # 15, tore his hammy in February. First rehab game today. 5 months.
Lucchesi has been designated. Phil Maton acquired from Tampa for a player to be named or cash.
Tough debut for Orze. He has to be agonizing over the infinity ERA, but as you said, he pitched pretty well. If he got that call on 3-2, he would be feeling a lot better about his first game. Give him another shot.
