Sand Gnats: "Pack The Park For Charity"

SAND GNATS INTRODUCE “PACK-THE-PARK FOR CHARITY

A Great Fundraising Option for Local Non-Profit Organizations

Savannah, GA – The Savannah Sand Gnats, Class-A affiliate of the New York Mets, have released a new community initiative, “Pack-the-Park for Charity” for the 2010 season.

“We are emphasizing our commitment to giving back to the Coastal Empire community,” said John Katz, President of the Sand Gnats. “Pack-the-Park helps non-profit organizations raise a significant amount of money in one evening and provide a different, fun experience for all participants.”

Pack-the-Park for Charity allows any non-profit organization to generate revenue through the purchase and sale of discounted Savannah Sand Gnats tickets and is available for every one of the Gnats 10 Wednesday home dates in 2010. The Savannah Sand Gnats will sell participating organizations tickets at a discounted rate of $3.00 per ticket, a price lower than any other available group rate. The organization can then re-sell the tickets at face value, $7.00 per ticket, making four dollars per ticket. Organizations can purchase a minimum of 500 tickets, with the option to purchase more. If an organization purchases a minimum of 1000 tickets the price drops to just $2.00 per ticket. The Sand Gnats require a 25% deposit with the balance due the day of the event.

Each organization is responsible for promoting their night and selling their game’s tickets. The Sand Gnats will promote each event by including each organization’s logo on print materials, in the ballpark, and through information and links on www.sandgnats.com. Each Pack the Park for Charity night will also receive radio mentions across Coastal Empire stations in conjunction with the Gnats radio partners.

On the night of their event each organization will receive a table on the concourse for literature distribution and fan interaction, a ceremonial first pitch for an organizational employee, beneficiary or donor, and public address and video board recognition. “By offering participating organizations a chance to set up shop on our concourse and have their messages read on the Public Address system and videos played on the video board, our not-for profit partners will reach out not only to their own core supporters, but all Sand Gnats fans,” said Katz.

To help each organization raise even more money, the Sand Gnats will also donate $.50 for each person who purchased tickets through the organization who comes to that night’s game. If an organization sells 1000 tickets and every one of those 1000 people come to the organization’s game night, the Sand Gnats will donate an additional $500 to the organization’s cause!

“Once our partner organization has completed their first task of selling their night’s tickets, we felt it important to make sure that we added an incentive for those people who purchased tickets to show up to the game,” added Katz. “Historic Grayson Stadium provides a terrific venue for non-profit organizations to spread their goodwill message. I am confident that Pack-the-Park will become a successful and memorable program for the Sand Gnats and the community as a whole.”

The first Wednesday night home game will be April 14 when the Sand Gnats take on the Augusta Greenjackets at 7:05pm. Non-profit organizations still have time to get involved.
