The Mack Report – The Supervisor, 25-Man, Spin, Satin, Carson, Familia, and Elvis

If you look up the winter stats (Liga ) in the Ligas League, you will find the team of Magellan, and the winter home of Mets Sal Manriquez, Gabriel Zabala, and ex-Met Angel Calero.

You will also see the name of the first batter listed in the team stats: The Supervisor.

The Supervisor is hitting .750, with a slugging percentage of 1.750.

Is this like, the same thing as, Jersey Shore’s The Situation?

Mets Winter Stats:

http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/org.jsp?id=nym

Eric Campbell/VWL - .333/.415/.472/.887 – It looks like Eric has settled in to another 300+ seasons. His hitting consistency remnds me of Josh Thole. In fact, don’t be surprised that this kid doesn’t sneek up on the Mets fans and some day becomes a full time player. Now, all we have to do is figure out whether he will play 3B, 1B,or the OF. I’m interviewing him tomorrow so we’ll see what he thinks.

Jordany Valdespin/AFL - .310/.341/.429/.769 – Is this good enough to warrant a 40-man spot and prevent the Mets from losing him to the Rule V draft?

Josh Satin/AFL - .333/.500/.333/.833 – Josh is just getting going here (6-AB), but don’t worry… the boy can hit. I talked to him and he told me that he is playing first base, second, and third during the winter. Seems the team’s first baseman got hurt, so expect him to be on first for awhile, but he plans on getting a lot of time in at second.

Manuel Alvarez/VWL – 0-0, 1.29, 4-G, 7.0-IP, 6-K – this is the guy I’ve been touting for two years. I’m telling you, he is ready for the Mets pen!/

Eric Neisen/AFL – Neisen is trying to make the conversion from starter to reliever and, frankly, is off to a very bad start in Arizona: 5 relief appearances, 4.2-IP, 7.71, an astounding 3.00 WHIP, 8-R, 4-ER, 4-K, 2-BB. He needs to turn this around or he may be facing a non invite to camp come spring.

In typical Mets minor league fashion, only one homer run so far in winter ball, by of all players,  Valdespin. “Spin” also has five stolen bases.

                                                                       - - - - - -

SP Robert Carson is off to another bad start in the Arizona Winter League. He pitched last night and got bombed, raising his ERA to 11.57 in 4.2-IP The good news was the fact that he struck out Bryce Harper. The bad news was the fact that he hardly got anyone else out. So far, he has given up 6-ERs in 4.2-IP.

Fellow area of concern, Jeurys Familia, got in one inning in the DWL, gave up two runs, and beat out Carson for the worst winter ERA with 18.00.

I remember when these tow used to lead the Gnats in good stats. Could both of them be A-ball peaks?
