1. Brian Johnson

4-28-10 from: - http://collegebaseball360.com/2010/04/27/cb360-primetime-performers-10-april-27  Florida freshman lefthander/DH  Brian Johnson (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) headline the nation’s players who turned in noteworthy performances during the past week, as the college baseball regular season entered its final month. Johnson delivered on the mound and at the plate, logging seven shutout innings and providing the pinch-hit single that sparked a 9th-inning rally to beat Arkansas in the 2-1 series-clinching finale (the only weekend series between top-10 teams in the CB360 Composite National Rankings). Rupp helped vault Texas atop many of the national polls, as the cleanup batter smacked a pair of 1st-inning home runs and nearly did the same in the series finale – leading the way for a Longhorns squad that swept Oklahoma State while extending its win streak to 16 games.

7-23-10 from: - http://pnrscouting.com/articles_teamusacollegiate_finalroster_07212010.html  - USA CNT Roster Breakdown, Spring Stat Links and Trials Notes: - Brian Johnson LHSP Fr. Univ. of Florida - Trials Notes: Johnson joins fellow Gator Nolan Fontana as the only freshman on the 2010 USA CNT. Johnson is a two-way talent at Florida that will serve only as an arm with Team USA, provided everything goes to plan. At a listed 6-3/225, Johnson has a strong and durable build and can be downright intimidating on the mound. His fastball was consistent with the Spring, sitting 88-91 mph with a couple of 92s sprinkled in. His most effective secondary right now is an upper-70s slider with sweeping 2-8 action and solid bite. Johnson shows enough feel to spot the offering for strikes but excels when he buries it as chase pitch. His curve is a softer breaker with 2-plane action that serves best as a change-of-pace pitch. He broke out a few change-ups but each was below-average, including one left up in the zone and launched over the left field fence by Peter O'Brien. Johnson's mechanics are fairly clean and simple, and he repeats them well. It would not be a surprise to see him serve work relief with Team USA, given the arms on the staff, but he has starter stuff and should be one of the more closely watched sophomore arms in 2011.

2. Tyler Duffy:

3-15-10 from http://pnrscouting.com/rankings_2010_houstoncollegeclassic.html  - Top 5 Players (2012 Draft Class) - Tyler Duffey, LHP, Rice Univ. - Duffey pitched a perfect 1.2 innings against Texas and Texas Tech, showing a very lively two-seamer and a slider to shows above-average to plus potential; listed at a sturdy 6-3/210, he should get a shot at the rotation next year and there may be a little more velocity to come as he continues to mature.

3. Jonathan Dziedzic:

4-12-10 from: - http://thecollegebaseballblog.com/2010/04/12/southland-conference-players-of-the-week-7  - Lamar left-handed pitcher Jonathan Dziedzic has been named one of the Southland Co-Pitchers of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The previous high for the freshman from Humble, Texas (Atascocita), was 10 against North Dakota State on Feb. 27. Before turning the reins over the Cardinal bullpen for the final inning, he struck out the side in the eighth inning. He allowed six hits and only one of the two runs he allowed was earned. Dziedzic is now 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA this season. He improved his season strikeout total to 59, third best in the Southland.
