Top 100 Cape Cod League prospects – #1-10 - 11-16-10 from: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5114  -

1. GEORGE SPRINGER, of, Wareham Gatemen (Connecticut/JR in 2011) Spent only 16 G at Wareham (.288-3-7, 7 SB), but combo of electric frame, 5-tool talent, vastly improved skills were readily evident

2. MATT BARNES, rhp, Wareham Gatemen (Connecticut/JR in 2011) Like college/summer teammate Springer, got limited look before joining Team USA; FB up 96, secondary stuff (SL, CH) + improved

3. ANTHONY RANAUDO, rhp, Brewster Whitecaps (SIGNED/Red Sox) On tight pitch count, but re-established draft value with solid summer (3-0, 0.00, .103 OBA); FB at 92-95, CU/CH also solid pitches

4. JED BRADLEY, lhp, Wareham Gatemen (Georgia Tech/JR in 2011) Led Cape in SO (44 vs. 6 BB in 41 IP), and was most impressive arm in Cape all-star game with command of 93-94 FB, + CU/CH

5. AUSTIN WOOD, rhp, Cotuit Kettlers (Southern California/JR in 2011) Mediocre success in two college years, but had breakthrough summer (3-0, 0.74); explosive FB at 95-98, much-improved SL/CH

6. KOLTEN WONG, 2b, Orleans Firebirds (Hawaii/JR in 2011)  MVP season (.341-3-11, 22 SB) for 5-9 sparkplug; polished hitter with surprising pop, found defensive home at 2B, + base stealer

7. DEVEN MARRERO, ss, Cotuit Kettleers (Arizona State/SO in 2011) Exceptional defender with ++ arm, solid feel for all aspects of SS play; hit .306-1-17, got better at plate, started turning on balls more

8. BRIAN GOODWIN, of, Harwich Mariners (North Carolina/SO in 2011) Just needs to put it all together, but has the raw tools; + bat speed/power, ++ speed on bases/in CF, arm for RF; hit .281-1-9, 15 SB

9. TONY ZYCH, rhp, Bourne Braves (Louisville/JR in 2011) Excelled in closer role (0.89 ERA, 12 SV) with FB that routinely reached 97, + slider; has violent, funky arm action, but throws strikes

10. ANDREW SUSAC, c, Falmouth Commodores (Oregon State/SO in 2011) D/E SO made big strides in summer after modest FR year; best tools are ++ arm/power, made strides at plate in offensive approach

Aaron Westlake: - 11-16-10 from: - http://www.collegebaseballdaily.com/2010/11/16/aaron-westlake-top-100-countdown  - His redshirt freshman season in 2009 saw him have a breakout season. He finished the season with a .377 batting average with 10 home runs, 57 RBI and 53 runs scored in 63 games. His .377 batting average was the best in the conference which led to him picking up several awards including being named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team. He spent the summer again in the NECBL but this time with the Newport Gulls. He was excellent in the summer as he hit at a .312 batting average with 13 extra-base hits (eight doubles, three triples and two home runs) as he helped lead the Gulls to the Eastern Division Championship. He ended up leading the team in several categories including RBI (24), hits (34) total bases (54) and triples (3). He was honored with a spot in the 2009 NECBL All-Star game

Taylor Jungmann: - 11-11-10 from: - http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com/  - #6 - RHP Taylor Jungmann Texas 6'6 200 - tall righty with above ave quality stuff. FB sits in the 88-92 zone but have seen him up to 96-97 before a few pitches when he rares back and fires his fb. FB down in zone with good sink and run in on RHH, must keep pitches down, fb flattens out up and out of zone. CB is true 11/6 down type with away break vs RHH and also solid straight change that has varying release points all pitches from upper 3/4 slot. Command is solid ave as is control. Has yet to fully fill out his frame which makes projecting this kid into a top flight starter in ML.

Peter Hendel: - 11-5-10: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5095  – WWBA stars - LHP/OF Peter Hendel (Dirtbags): There are a ton of pitching prospects from North Carolina in the 2011 class but one North Carolina-based scout admitted to me that he had never heard of Hendel, who actually is/was a primary outfielder. As Hendel was topping out at 82 mph this summer at the WWBA 17U National Championships, that’s understandable. During the playoffs he was 84-87 with 3 solid secondary pitches while shutting out the Orlando Scorpions and striking out 13 hitters.

Austin Wilson: - 11-2-10 from: - http://milbprospects.blogspot.com/2010/11/top-25-under-25now-and-in-2015.html  - 17. Austin Wilson, RF, Stanford University - Where he came from: Wilson could have been a top 10 pick in the 2010 draft if not for a solid commitment to Stanford. The Cardinals rolled the dice on him, but he opted to choose the Stanford Cardinals. Why he’s here: Wilson is an athlete that is really projectable. He is a muscular hitter with a ton of power potential. The Stanford swing could hinder him but I think he can succeed anyway. Where he’s headed: Wilson has a long swing and will strike out a bunch, but he will play really good RF defense with a plus arm. He will be a .260-.280 hitter with 20 HR potential. The only reason I don't project more is the history of Stanford hitters. If you really like him you could project another Dave Winfield.
