R.I.P. - A. Arthur Giddon

A. Arthur Giddon, who on April 25, 2009 served as the honorary bat boy of the Red Sox, passed away on Wednesday in Connecticut. He was 101.



Mr. Giddon, a former bat boy for the Boston Braves, was a dedicated Red Sox fan and his day at Fenway Park was covered nationally as he met David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis and other players.



Born in Boston on April 26, 1909, Mr. Giddon lived most of his early life in Brookline. He graduated from Tufts and earned his law degree from Harvard Law. He joined the U.S. Navy when World War II broke out and served for four years, most of the time in Europe and attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
