Cutnpaste: - Bobby V., Terry Collins, Joe Morgan, Jose Oquendo, and A.J. Burnett

Bobby V.

According to Richard Sandomir of the New York Times, ESPN is expected to announce that Bobby Valentine and Dan Shulman will join Orel Hershiser in the broadcast booth for Sunday Night Baseball for the 2011 season and beyond.

Regarding the decisions to fire Joe Morgan and reassign Jon Miller to radio, Sandomir writes that it was simply time for a change. - metsmerized

Terry Collins:

Terry Collins has emerged as the favorite to become New York Mets manager, according to an organization source.

Collins, currently the organization's minor league field coordinator, has strong supporters in chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon and newly hired VP for player development and amateur scouting Paul DePodesta, who once was prepared to hire Collins as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers before being pushed out as GM there - ESPN

Joe Morgan:

It was time for a change, he said, time for new perspective, yet time to appreciate Miller and Morgan’s contributions to building the “Sunday Night” franchise. Still, in conveying its appreciation, ESPN was saying that Morgan was no longer welcome, but if Miller wants to shift to radio, he’s aces.

If it’s any consolation to Morgan, he stuck around longer than the www.FireJoeMorgan.com Web site. - NYT

Jose Oquendo:

Cardinals third base coach Jose Oquendo is scheduled to interview Monday with New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson regarding the team's managerial vacancy.

Oquendo tonight confirmed being contacted by the Mets earlier this week. The Mets sought and were granted permission for the interview by Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak, who then forwarded the club's interest to Oquendo. - stltoday.

A.J. Burnett:

Trade: Sent to Florida in Al Leiter deal

After trade: 110 Wins, 107 ERA+, 1,618 Ks

Analysis – Win for Mets. Burnett has been a dominating pitcher at times but Leiter gave the Mets seven strong years and was a cornerstone of their 1999-2000 playoff teams. Still time for Burnett to change the perception of this deal but he’ll need to turn back the clock to 2008 to make that happen.
