Cutnpaste: - Dylan Owen, Ken Macha, Hisanori Takahashi, Ike Davis, and Carlos Beltran

Dylan Owen

11-15-10 from: - link  - Owen had another OK season in 2010 though he did show signs that he might top out before ever reaching Queens. After a disappointing 2009 season with Binghamton, Owen got off to a quick start this year and even got a call up to Buffalo in late May. However, he was completely overmatched posting a 7.11 ERA in ten appearances and was sent back by July. Owen worked primarily out of the 'pen after his return but didn't fare well posting a 4.55 ERA in sixteen relief appearances. His 3.59 mark as a starter looks nicer but a 4.86 FIP doesn't bode well for his future in the rotation. As an '07 20th rounder, the odds are already against Dylan Owen and with middling velocity and stuff, he'll need to figure out how to have success in short stints if he's ever going to make it in the bigs.

Ken Macha:

Ousted Milwaukee Brewers manager Ken Macha could be a member of the Mets' coaching staff, perhaps as bench coach, if Terry Collins is in fact named manager, Foxsports.com reported. They were minor league teammates with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Macha has the Oakland Athletics pedigree as well. Still, Bob Melvin would seem a strong candidate for bench coach if he is runner-up for the manager's job. -  ESPN

Hisanori Takahashi:

The Reds claimed Hisanori Takahashi off waivers last week but the right-hander refused the claim and is now a free agent. Takahashi passed through waivers after the Mets were unable to work out a deal with him during their exclusive negotiating window. He's now free to sign with any team and should draw a number of decent offers. The 35-year-old posted a 3.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 122 innings this year for the Mets, serving as both a starter and reliever. He's open to either role for 2011. - rotoworld

 Ike Davis:

While Davis has shown the ability to murder fastballs, he struggles with staying back on off-speed pitches. He’s patient enough to get into fastball counts, but he can get overly aggressive when he’s expecting a fastball. Sometimes he starts his swing before the pitcher even releases the ball, which leads to some ugly, off-balance swings. In combination with his long swing, this aggression, which could be an asset if he can harness it, leads to a lot of swings and misses. If Davis can shorten up his swing a little bit, he’ll swing through fewer off-speed pitches and fastballs. Though he was an elite line-drive hitter last season, Davis hits a lot of fly balls. He’s going to fly out too many times to sustain a .350+ BABIP. Don’t be surprised if he winds up being a .300 BABIP guy with a batting average closer to .275 than .300. A fluid defensive first baseman with soft hands, Davis has a plus arm – 90+ MPH fastball as a RP in college. Although he’s a decent athlete, he’s a below-average runner. -

 Carlos Beltran:

Add the Mets' Carlos Beltran to the list of potential OF/DH solutions for AL clubs such as the White Sox and Rangers. To trade Beltran, the Mets would need to assume a significant portion of his $18.5 million salary for 2011. Beltran, 33, has a full no-trade clause, but probably would jump to play in a hitter-friendly park in his walk year. - Fox Sports
