Draft 14 – Chris Ellis, J.J. Schwartz, David Peterson, Nick Gordon

12-9-13 – Pine Tar Press  -  15- RHP Chris Ellis Ole Miss- Ellis had an excellent summer on the Cape and like many others before him at the greatest place to be for baseball in the summer team he set himself up as a potential 1st round pick. He was used more as a RP as a sophomore but you have to think a lot of eyes will be on Ellis this season when he toes the slab as a weekend starter. He has 3 quality pitches and gets plenty of life out of his 91-93 MPH fastball. He also has a very good slider. (Yankees @ 18) http://pinetarpress.com/early-look-2014-mlb-draft/

11-19-13 - J.J. Schwarz (C) - High School: Palm Beach Gardens - I admit it. I took a look at this guy strictly because of his first initial and last name (J. Schwarz). However, upon further review, this 17-year-old University of Florida signee looks to have quite the potent bat with gap-to-gap power. Early reports from this summer’s East Coast Pro Showcase indicate that he has quite the arm as well–picking off two runners in a game. He was also a key performer on the Gold-medal winning 18-and-under Team USA squad at the World Cup. I am almost certain he will end up playing college ball at Florida instead of signing, but like I said, I just had to check out a guy with the same name as me. Here is a Baseball America video of Schwarz taking batting practice this summer. http://stlcupofjoe.com/2013/11/19/2014-mlb-draft-five-prospects-to-keep-an-eye-on-part-2/

11-21-13 – BA Top 100 High School Players - 56 David Peterson LHP L/L 6-6 231 Regis Jesuit, Denver Oregon http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/2014-high-school-top-100-with-commitments/

12-10-13 – TTF – Top 50 HS Players - 7. Nick Gordon, SS/RHP, Olympia HS (FL) - A two-way talent with great bloodlines (Tom “Flash“ Gordon is his dad and Dee Gordon is his brother), the 6’-2” right-hander may have a brighter future at short where his strong arm, instincts and athleticism could allow him to stick at a premium position. Offensively, he hits from the left side and projects to a top-of-the-order hitter with speed and a very good approach at the plate. Over 30 games as a junior, he hit .505 with 15 doubles, six triples and 12 stolen bases. Committed to Florida State. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50/40532#zz88YJZTOG8iEa1Z.99
