Draft 14 - A Quick Look - RHP - Michael Kopech - Mount Pleasant (TX) HS

.       Michael Kopech

6-9-13  -  23. New York Yankees — Michael Kopech, Mount Pleasant HS (TX) - Another one of those loose arm, projectable right-handers, the 6’-4” Kopech has an electric fastball that can touch 93 mph and he has some deception to his delivery. His mechanics need some refining and he needs to command his secondary stuff better, but the size and stuff is already there. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-mock-draft-1-0-no-time-like-the-present/34008#Vj5KQGPZZT1XUyhx.99

7-2-13 - 13. Michael Kopech- RHP, Mt Pleasant (TX) HS -  6’4, 195 RHP touched 94 at the Tournament of Stars and National Showcase http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/jeff-sullivans-top-100-2014-prospects/

7-5-13 - Michael Kopech, RHP, Mount Pleasant HS (TX) - The 6’-4” right-hander can touch 94 mph and his loose, lively arm project to more velocity as he matures. His secondary stuff still lacks control at times, but he gets by with a deceptive delivery. Once he cleans up his mechanics a bit, as well as refines his secondary stuff, the upside is huge. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/prep-arms-chicago-cubs/34856#Vp7zJ4JvRevfV1fR.99

7-24-13  -  Michael Kopech, rhp, Mount Pleasant (Texas)/Dallas Tigers-Vanlandingham - The tall, lean and wiry Kopech offers projection to his 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame. While his velocity has been inconsistent this summer, Kopech is capable of low-90s velocity and has hit 94 mph. He has long arm action but also a quick arm. Kopech, who is uncommitted, is flexible throughout his delivery, featuring a high leg kick up to his shoulders, hip turn and loose arm action. His top secondary offering is a mid-70s curveball that flashes three-quarter tilt and depth. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/

8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 33. 8-15-13 - Under Armour All-Star Game – Michael Kopesch, RHP: 6'4", 190 lbs with a lot of athleticism and projection.  Some mechanical issues that a team should be able to fix, but the raw talent is there.  Throws a low 90s FB that can reach 94, a curve, and a developing change.  Some deception there too so a team that's going to take him will need to make sure they don't overhaul that part out of his delivery. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/08/2014-mlb-draft-ua-game-roster-and-preview-plus-more-tickets-and-meet-up-information/

9-29-13 – XMLBScout – 18.)RHP, Michael Kopech, Mt Pleasant HS, Mt Pleasant TX, 6'2 1/2 185, lean frame with long arms and legs, gets good extension out front on his fb and breaking ball, command is good and should improve as he progresses into college and pro baseball, fb velo 88-93, most were 89-91 with tailing action down in the zone, most fb were true, cb with sharp 11/5 break, at times very good, other times flat and easy to read, flashed a few change ups with some deception, tends to slow upper body down on certain pitches he throws, correctible and definitely the type of young arm to watch in 2014, college may be in the picture but open to pro ball for sure. Upside unlimited, improved over the summer in each outing at National scene. http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com/

9-30-13 – TTF Mock 2.0 - 16. Arizona Diamondbacks — Michael Kopech, RHP, Mount Pleasant HS (TX) - Another one of those loose arm, projectable right-handers, the 6’-4” Kopech has an electric fastball that can touch 93 mph and he has some deception to his delivery. His mechanics need some refining and he needs to command his secondary stuff better, but the size and stuff are already there. He was absolutely dominant at the Under Armour Game at Wrigley, showing off an explosive mid-90s fastball with late life and a nasty slider with hard bite. Had 129 K/33 BB over 80.1 innings as a junior. Quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the 2014 MLB draft. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-mock-draft-2-0-draft-order-set/38280#5E3F5j1jWOgE69bJ.99

12-10-13 – TTF – Top 50 HS Players - 20. Michael Kopech, RHP, Mount Pleasant HS (TX) - The 6’-3” right-hander worked on his mechanics over the summer and it showed at the 2013 Under Armour Game at Wrigley Field. His fastball was popping the mitt, hitting the mid-90s with explosive life. He also showed his plus slider with hard bite as he worked a quick inning. There is still projection there and his frame suggests more velocity could still come. Had 129 K/33 BB over 80.1 innings as a junior. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50/40532#zz88YJZTOG8iEa1Z.99

12-9-13 – Pine Tar Press  -  27-RHP Michael Kopech Pleasant HS (Arizona Commit) 4/30/96- Terrific change of pace pitcher who has plenty of giddyup on a 92-94 mph fastball. He has a lot of confidence in his breaking stuff and will showcase those pitches often against some of the elite HS bats he has faced in various showcases. He threw a 91-93 mph fastball at PG National with a 73-76 mph curve. He had a nice downhill feel and was in the zone. He has a fast arm and his pitches run in fast on his opponent.
