2018 Draft - Top 10 Right Handed Pitchers Available in the 2018 Draft

2018 Draft – Top 10 Right Handed Pitchers Available in the 2018 Draft

Brady Singer           Florida
Bless You Boys - Singer, one of the top names from next year's draft class, is the master of a fastball with potent arm-side run that will draw ugly swings from batters and make fans drool. He sits in the low-to-mid 90s, but that's more than enough velocity to make it a real weapon. He pairs his brilliant fastball with a slider that he threw in high school, but refined in college with the help of Alex Faedo, another recent Tigers draft pick known for his vicious breaking ball.

Ethan Hankins        Forsyth Central HS (GA)

Minor League Ball - The most potent weapon in Hankins' arsenal is his fastball. He has a heater that sits in the mid-90s and occasionally touches 97 miles per hour. While many Tigers' prospects boast this ability, what separates this particular pitcher form the rest is his ability to harness the vicious offering. He is able to spot it on the corners, down in the zone, and challenge hitters up and in on the hands. It is often more than enough to overwhelm any who face him.

Casey Mise              Auburn

Auburn website - 2017 – SOPHOMORE YEAR - Made 13 appearances and 12 starts on the mound … turned in quality outings in nine of his 13 trips to the bump … posted a team-best 8-2 record with a 2.04 ERA, good for third in the SEC and 25th in the country … struck out 109 batters in 83.2 innings pitched … his 109 strikeouts in were the most by an Auburn pitcher since 1999 and the eighth most in the conference … issued a SEC-low nine walks en route to leading the NCAA with a 12.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio … ranked 15th in the country with 11.73 strikeouts per nine innings … held opponents to a .210 average … was named a Second Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings and earned Third Team All-American honors from Baseball American and Perfect Game … became the 25th All-American in program history and second under head coach Butch Thompson … was also named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List and earned D1 Baseball Mid-Season All-American honors ... threw 5.0 scoreless innings and struck out 12 batters in a win vs. Holy Cross (2/25) … went the distance and earned wins in a pair of games vs South Carolina (3/31) and in the NCAA Tournament vs. Tennessee Tech (6/3) … struck out 12 batters in both outings … allowed only two hits in 7.0 shutout innings and matched his season high with 12 strikeouts at Texas A&M (4/7) … allowed just three hits and struck out seven batters in 6.0 shutout innings at Tennessee (4/13) … pitched 6.0 innings of relief and earned the win in the Tigers’ SEC Tournament matchup vs. Ole Miss (5/23).

Kumar Rocker         N Oconee HS (GA

Minor League Ball - Rocker's fastball sat 94-97 mph in his first two innings before settling in at 91-95. He showed feel for an above-average slider, with late tilt and hard, mid-80s velocity. In case that wasn't impressive enough, Rocker busted out his changeup in the fifth inning, throwing it from a slightly lower arm slot than that of his fastball and generating heavy tumbling action to induce a swing-and-miss.

Jackson Kowar       Florida

SoDo MoJo -   Kowar’s real money pitch is his excellent fading change-up. He throws it between 82-84 mph, and can look like a splitter at times. The pitch is thrown with excellent arm speed, routinely fooling the best of hitters in the SEC. The curveball is his third offering, and it could be the difference maker for the young flamethrower. The pitch is fringe most of the time. However, it does flash plus at times, giving Kowar 3 potentially plus pitches in his arsenal.

Logan Gilbert         Stetson

2080 Baseball -      Tall, lanky frame with long arms and room for growth; no windup, minimal step-in to motion; long-armer through a 3/4’s slot; loose, live arm and he throws free and easy; ball explodes out of his hand; double-plus fastball (93-to-97 mph), comfortably sitting 95 mph with plus movement, explosive late life; heavy sink action with hard run and tail; true swing-and-miss pitch; projectable, plus curveball (74-to-76 mph) with two-plane action and solid depth; must stay on top of curveball more consistently; seldom used changeup (84-to-85 mph) with solid fade; plus performance seen on July 18, where he worked five innings giving up two hits, one walk and eight strikeouts. Will be one of the premier right-handed college pitchers for the 2018 Draft.

Carter Stewart       Eau Gallie HS (FL)

Minor League Ball - Many star pitchers have the ability to blow that ball by guys, getting them to fear the fastball and getting ugly swings on everything else as batter try to adjust. Stewart, on the other hand, is a true pitcher. The master of one of a curveball with the highest spin rate in the class, evaluators call his ability to use the offering elite and have bestowed upon it the title of the best breaking ball of anyone available to clubs this June.

Mason Denaburg  Merritt Island HS (FL)

PG Grade: 10 - Mason Denaburg is a 2018 C/RHP with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Merritt Island, FL who attends Merritt Island HS. Tall angular build, lots of physical projection. Highest level two-way prospect, future is likely on the mound. Very simple leg raise delivery, turn and throw mechanics, essentially working from the stretch. Arm is fast and smooth, fastball topped out at 97 mph with little effort, big nasty sinking and running life on his fastball at times, will occasionally drift out in his delivery but mostly together with his mechanics. Change up had similar sinking life to his fastball. Did not throw a curveball in this short outing but has shown a solid power curve in the past. Right handed hitter, high hand load with a balanced and strong swing, big power to both alley's, swings as easy as he throws. 6.84 runner, plenty athletic enough behind the plate and could probably play most other positions on the field. Good student, verbal commitment to Florida. Selected for the 2017 Perfect Game All-American Classic.

Mike Vasil                Boston College H.S. (MA)

PG Grade: 10 - Mike Vasil is a 2018 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-4 205 lb. frame from Wellesley, MA who attends Boston College High School. Exceptionally impressive frame, strong, athletic build and frame, present strength with additional room to continue to develop. Posted a 7.53 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, side step start, leg raise past waist, limited effort, long arm action, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Very under control delivery, good arm speed, and lands on a stiff front leg. Fastball exploded out of hand and attacked hitters at 87-91 mph with good arm side life. Mixed in a tight curveball with 10/4 shape with late break and sharpness at 74 mph. Showed feel for a changeup as well at 77 mph with sink. Secondary first basemen, showed similar big time arm strength, fielded the ball clean, sound footwork, and overall athletic actions. At the plate, started open and used a quick toe tap timing mechanism. Showed tremendous bat speed with big raw strength, and carry off the barrel. Hips get through the zone well, very quick hands through the zone with big impact to pull side. Verbally committed to the University of Virginia. Named to Top Prospect List.

Slade Cecconi          Trinity Prep HS (FL)

PG Grade: 10 - Slade Cecconi is a 2018 RHP/IF with a 6-4 193 lb. frame from Oviedo, FL who attends Trinity Prep. Outstanding young pitcher's build, has some present strength with long arms and loose athletic actions. Lightning fast arm action, high 3/4's arm slot, lots of extension out front, low effort release. Consistent mid-90's fastball, topped out at 96 mph, powers it down to the bottom of the zone with life and angle, lots of 96's. Slider is his best secondary pitch, has power and bite at 84 mph. Tends to lower elbow on his curveball and change up, will flash quality but not consistency, throws strikes with his secondary pitches. Elite level arm who should keep getting better. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Miami. Selected for the 2017 Perfect Game All-American Classic.

I'll take all 10. Kumar looks like a Rock star.

Rocker would be my pick also.

Denaburg will most probably be drafted as a catcher.
