AA-Binghamton activated OFAlfredo Escalera from the IR. Escalera is a Kansas
City 8th round pick in 2012 out of the famous IMG Academy in
Florida. He spent seven seasons in the Royals pipeline, ending last season
after going .242 in 161-AB for KC’s AA amd Rookie team. The Mets signed him up
this season and his next Mets game will be his first.
AA-Binghamton placed OF Barrett Barnes on the injured list. Barnes was a first
rounder in 2012 (Pirates) but worked his way out of that organization by the
end of 2017. He plaed last season for the Sugar Land Skeeters (Indy). The Mets
signed him in the off season and through 21 at-bats in a delay filled season,
he’s hit .286.
Friday,
4-19:
RHP Chris Mazza transferred
from AAA-Syracuse to AA-Binghamton. He was signed by the Mets this off season
and has gone 2-G,12-IP, 3.75 for both Syracuse and Binghamton.
Saturday,
4-20:
The Mets placed P Jacob
deGrom on the 10-day injured list. He was sent to New York to receive an
MRI after he felt a twinge in his throwing arm while tossing a ball.
The Mets recalled P Chris Flexen from Syracuse. Flexen has had two starts
so far for Syracuse, posting a stat line of: 1-1. 5.25, 1.17, 12-IP, 18-K,
3-BB. However. He was sent to the Mets showers early after posting a sub-per start (4.1-IP, 6-R, 10.38-ERA) and put back on a plane to Syracuse before his hair was even dry.
To replace Flexen, the Mers called up P Daniel Zamora. The 26-year old, out of Stony Brook University, has ben used by the Mets as a relief pitcher. So far this season, in five appearances, he has gone 0-0, 1.80, 0.60, 5-IP, 7-K, 1-BB. He has a career five season ERA of 2.77.

Barrett - sometimes I wonder if the minors use the IL (wink, wink) very loosely, to move guys in and out of their 25 man.

Not much to offer on the mound in AAA, so far........I really wish BVW would go and get Keuchel already.

Happy Easter All and could our beleaguered home town team please find a "quality start" in their Easter basket this morning....PLEASE! It's no longer early and having our opponents treat our pitching staff like human pinata's has not been fun to the point of asking "what the Hell is going on here". Now any ideas guys cause this is getting real ugly fast as the 1962 team's ERA was lower which seems impossible but not if your watching the games.
Cardinals averaging 5.5 runs per game - next up? Brewers, with 41 homers in 22 games. That high Mets team ERA might not be planning to come down so quickly. Of course, then comes Cincy, hitting .193.
Brewers are second in baseball to Seattle's ridiculous 53 homers and .511 slug % in 24 games.
Yanks have 36 homers in 20 games - how many would they have if everyone was healthy?
Home runs in the majors are off the charts - except Detroit has just 10.
Amazing with that ERA that the Mets' pitchers have 190 Ks in 176 innings. I guess more GIDPs might help. Just 13 of those so far.
