LEXINGTON, KY – Ronny Mauricio led the way on Sunday with four hits as Columbia smashed Lexington in the series finale, 12-5. The Fireflies not only scored a season-high 12 runs, but also tallied a season-best 18 hits (two shy of the franchise record).
Columbia (4-6) staves off the four-game series sweep. Every hitter in the Fireflies order reached base and every one either scored a run or drove in a run. In addition to Mauricio’s heroics, Mark Vientos and Anthony Dirocie also tallied three-hit games. Three other Fireflies batters tallied multi-hit games.
Also of note, Juan Uriarte drove in three runs on the afternoon. Brian Sharp crushed a three-run homer in the eighth inning on Sunday, his second blast of the series. Sharp wound up with three multi-hit games in the Lexington (6-4) series.
Dedniel Nunez (W, 2-0) wound up winning his second game. The starter lasted 5.2 innings and struck out seven. He hasn’t walked a batter in 11 innings this season.

Columbia is an exciting young team
