2019 Draft - Mets Pick 11.328 - LHSP Jordan Martinson - Dallas Baptist




With the 328th pick (11th round) in the 2019 draft, the New York Mets picked pitcher Jordan Martinson, a senior from Dallas Baptist.

2019 stats:  16-starts, 8-4, 2.61, 1.08, 100-IP, 115-K

LHP

Made 14 appearances, including six starts … Posted a 1-1 record with one save and a 5.85 ERA … Struck out 26 batters and walked just 12 in 32.1 innings … Tossed 5.0 innings and allowed just one unearned run in his first start of the year against Monmouth (2/17) … 

After returning from an injury in mid-April, came out of the bullpen to throw 2.0 scoreless frames and earn the save against Southern Illinois (4/15) … Started at TCU (5/2) and worked 3.0 shutout innings while striking out three … Helped lift DBU to a win at then-ranked No. 9 Texas Tech after holding the Red Raiders scoreless for 2.1 innings out of the pen … 

Allowed just one run over 7.0 innings in his start against Bradley (5/26) to earn Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team honors.

Jordan Martinson is not a fireballer, but gets the most out of his skill set.

Still, I would have preferred a power arm to be selected, even with flaws.
