Mack - 2019 Mets Transactions, Kudos, and Comments

Saturday, June 15th

AA-Binghamton SS, Andres Gimenez, was activated off the IL

AA-Binghamton SS, Edgardo Fermin, was transferred to A+ St. Lucie.

In UDFA news, the Mets have signed RHP Matt Mullenbach, out of Lincoln Memorial University.

            2019: 14-ST, 3-CG, 3-6, 5.38. 73.2-IP, 92-K

In more UDFA news, the Mets have signed infielder senior Patrick Causa, from Mount St, Mary University.

            2019:  .402/.521/.710

            Kudos –

                  A-Columbia SS, Ronny Mauricio: 3-4, 2-R, .295
Mauricio was a home run away from the cycle. There’s nothing left for this kid to do at this level. Move him up, especially since Gimenez seems to be sputtering out at the AA level.

A-Columbia RP, Tyler McGill: 2-IP, 0-R, 0.60

Low-A SP, Jaison Vilera: 6.2-IP, 1-ER, 5-K, 1.35

Low-A rehab, P Justin Wilson: 1-IP, 0-R, 2-K, 0.00

           Forgot about him.

Boy, we sure could use a healthy Wilson to hop the subway to Queens

AAA-Syracuse SP, Chris Mazza: 8-IP, 0-R, 8-K

     Mazza is an intriguing guy.

The 29-year old started out as a 27th round pick in the 2011 draft, by the Twins, out of Menio College (CA). He was released by the Twins in 2015, picked up by Miami, and was then cut last year while pitching 3.94 in the AAA-PCL league.

He finished the season going 0.59 and 0.42 for two INDY teams, which caught a Mets scout’s eye.
The Mets signed him for the 2019 season and, so far, he’s gone 4-STARTS, 3.42 for the B-Mets and 6-STARTS, .386 for Cuse. (combined: 10-st, 3.68)

Mazza could be the next SP emergency call up.

Sunday, June 16th

AAA-Syracuse reassigns RP, Stephen Villines, to AA-Binghamton

To make room for Villiness, AA-Binghamton reassigns P, Luc Rennie, to A+ St. Lucie

Both Rennie and Villiness had rough games this past week, but the move of sending down a starter to make room for a reliever makes so sense; however, St. Lucie was short a starter in their rotation.

Kudos –
      AAA-Syracuse 1B, Dilson Herrera: 2-3, 2-R, RBI

      A-Columbia 3B, Mark Vientos: 2-3, R, .240
Vientos needs to step up during the second half of the season if he wants to remain being considered a prospect

Low-A Brooklyn 2B, Wilmer Reyes: 2-3, .667

Low-A Brooklyn SS, Angel Manzanarez: 2-4, R, .500

The Mets team site lists all the transactions including the draft signings. Nice first start for Nathan Jones last night in Brooklyn. Loved the PR department's tweet about the game, Nathan's always better on Coney Island.
