OPEN THREAD - Derek Jeter

The 5 people with more hits than Jeter: Pete Rose, Ty Cobb, Hank

Aaron, Stan Musial and Tris Speaker.

The 3 players with more multi-hit games than Jeter: Pete Rose, Stan

 Musial, Hank Aaron.

My question to you...

Does Jeter deserves to be go to the Hall Of Fame next time they vote?

Yes. I try to go to the parade in Cooperstown the night before the inauguration ceremony. Not sure I will this year. It will be very crowded. One of my friends is a Marlins fan (yes Virginia they do exist). He wants to go so he can boo him so I may end up going.

Yes. Beyond the stats, he was truly clutch. Mets fans encountered that repeatedly. .364 in 88 games.

.308 with 111 runs scored in 158 playoff games.

Just...plain...clutch.

He most definitely deserves to be a first ballot Hall of Famer, but if Tom Seaver wasn't unanimous then he does not deserve to be either. There were times he was not even the best SS in his own league.

Yes he does but definitely not unanimously. I wish he was a Met all those years, he was just like our D Wright but stayed healthy.

His last 5 years were pretty terrible but his first 15 were very good. Personally I was annoyed by Jeter and Riveras attention whoring in their final seasons where they announced their retirement before the season started and then it became all about their retirement and not the team. Some other notable players have done a similar thing (Ortiz, Farve like 3 times). Anyways obviously a HOF player nonetheless.

I think so........I don't have to like him, but I respect what he did and I like to see a player stay with one
franchise for their entire career, too.
