Open Thread - Francisco Lindor or Mookie Betts

Someone named David Adler of MLB.com put up some suggestions on trades the Mets can make for the services of superstar SS Francisco Lindor or equally superstar OF Mookie Betts.

They are:

SS Ronny Mauricio, UT J.D. Davis, OF/1B Dominic Smith for Betts

SS Amed Rosario, Davis, OF Brandon Nimmo for Lindor

Thoughts?

I would do either deal perhaps more so for Linder. He is some player.

I always look at the "delta;"
Is Betts in LF full time more productive than a Davis/Smith platoony thing? Probably, is he Mauricio better? Close, how many years of control of Betts do we get? ..nah.

Is Lindor more productive Rosario? So far, sure. Will he continue to be at least Davis/Nimmo better? That's a push IMO. I'll stick with my guys.

But I like the specificity of the question, Mac, as opposed to "should we trade D.Smith?"

No to both....we need as many hands on deck since injuries and depth play a part this whole season ...one thing is that I believe Cano should be at 3rd base and McNeil should be the starting 2nd baseman

Steve may be onto something.

NO MORE TRADING

Cano trade announced Dec 1, 2018. That date this year is just 2 weeks away. BVW has to be getting antsy.

I would try and trade Cano to Padres for Wil Myers. I think its sort of even money and Cano might ok it because I believe Tatis is his God Son?

That way we can put McNiel at second and try Davis at third. I’d rather have Myers as a 4th outfielder platooning with someone than Cano in the lineup everyday. Also I feel since Myers is younger he might come around eventually to his stats from a few years ago.

Yay I finally was able to sign back into my account.

Zozo that was probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Meyers was a below average hitter in 2019 and Davis is nearly unplayable at third base, worth like -20DRS if he played a full season at the position.
