OPEN THREAD: Most Loved and Most Reviled: Catcher
Reese Kaplan came up with a great idea for a series here.
Who was your all-time favorite at a position and who was your most reviled.
Next up... the home of Joe Torre, Jerry Grote, Mike Piazza, Todd Hundley, Mackey Sasser, Vance Wilson, and Alex Trevino, among others:

As much as I loved Jerry Grote in his prime, I have to pick that guy that hit that home run the first home game back from 9/11...
Most reviled?
For me, that's easy.
For his disgusting social habits in the past, Paul Lo Duca.
Piazza - why? I love hitting more than defense.
Runner Up? Jesse Gonder. No, not really.
Despised? Anthony Recker - give me guys that can hit. He couldn't.
Mets employed a Goosen & a Gonder in the same year. Should have been the best duo even ...alas.
Of the non stars, I think I liked John Gibbons best. There's a game ending DP ('86 in SD) that's a classic.
Hobie, that team was for the birds.
Gibbons was a toughie.
Piazza and Carter are easy picks, but I'll go with John Stearns due to his grit on lousy teams. Also, a call out to Ronnie Hodges, who somehow navigated a long MLB career as a fill in.
I don't despise any players, some I'll just pick Jose Lobaton due to his short and uneventful tenure.
