SNY.TV: The fourth inning was one the Mets won’t soon forget about. With the bases loaded and nobody out, J.D. Davis hit a one-hopper to shortstop, but the routine throw home could not be handled by catcher Danny Jansen, scoring the Mets’ fifth run of the game. Things only got worse for the Blue Jays from there. With the bases still loaded, Dominic Smith demolished a 3-0 fastball from former Mets prospect Anthony Kay for a grand slam, giving Smith 36 RBI on the season.

Dominic Smith just ended his postgame interview with a quick shoutout to his mom.
"Happy birthday mom," he said, grinning.
Dom Smith has essentially gone from bench player to core player. No idea how Mets want to play this going into 2021 and beyond.

Brian Joura Mets360: Dominic Smith hit his first career grand slam and Michael Conforto hit a three-run shot and had 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Robinson Cano, Jeff McNeil and Wilson Ramos each had three hits, and Ramos joined Conforto with the 4-4 Runs-RBIs combo. McNeil got two gift hits, having a pop fly lost by the outfielders in the lights and a ground ball to first where the position player pitching didn’t cover first base.
23 runs of support in the last two starts for deGrom. He didn't get that many in nine of the 12 MONTHS he pitched in 2018-2019.

At one point in 2018, the Mets scored 19 runs over a span of TEN straight deGrom starts. https://t.co/YKIP4KfRSQ
Newsday: Jacob deGrom solidifies Cy Young credentials in Mets' 18-1 laugher. DeGrom’s primary Cy competition: The Reds’ Trevor Bauer, who has a 1.74 ERA and leads the league with a 0.79 WHIP, and the Cubs’ Yu Darvish, who has a 1.77 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. Each has three scheduled starts remaining in this 60-game, pandemic-shortened season, after which the major awards will be dispensed.

Minor Leaguers are not paid during the offseason, yet they must train all winter and must arrive to spring training in baseball shape.

They need to be paid for that work, and we again call on MLB to extend the $400 per week stipends through the offseason. pic.twitter.com/NrLUr4DRii

"I look up into the stands,
and it looks like Ebbets Field. The Mets are wonderful, but you can’t take
the Dodger out of Brooklyn" - DUKE
SNIDER, - addressing the Mets fans on his special night at the Polo
Grounds.
In a pregame ceremony with his
former Dodgers teammates, Jackie
Robinson, Roy
Campanella, Don
Newcombe, and Ralph
Branca in attendance, Duke Snider is honored by the Mets with a special
'night' at the Polo Grounds, which coincidentally marks the last time the
Giants, now located in San Francisco, will ever play in their once long-time
home in Harlem. The 'Silver Fox,' obtained by the last-place expansion team
in April, has recently requested to be traded to a contender.

Both New York teams host their

the clubs playing at home on the same day. On Baseball Thursday in the Big

Don't be too hard on Anthony Kay. Dom Smith is an elite hitter and beat him. Elite hitters do stuff like that. It looked like a Barry Bonds swing, that grand slam.
Smith is elite.
Say what you want about Rojas but if he is behind giving Dom regular playing time at first base and playing Gimenez everyday at SS, he deserves a lot of credit. You see the ESPN list of most exciting players? COnforto, Gimenez, and Smith rated top 3 Mets - Gimenez and Smith are still not even considered regulars in some peoples opinions!
The best part of Dom's grand slam is the fact that it closed down Ernest's Anthony Kay tweets for at least today.
