Luis Rojas says the Mets are still evaluating the coaching staff for 2021.

He says there will be title changes and additions.
He confirms Dave Jauss as bench coach and Jeremy Hefner as pitching coach but nobody else.
Chili Davis is “expected” to return as Mets hitting coach, per Luis Rojas. But that’s not official yet.

Luis Rojas said he didn't learn about Robinson Cano testing positive for a steroid until it came out publicly.
— Tim Healey (@timbhealey) December 16, 2020
"I was shocked when it happened," he said.
Rojas added that he called Cano and offered support: "I’m sure it’ll be tough time for him next year."
Rojas mentioned McNeil, Gimenez and Guillorme as second base options and added: “There’s guys in the market who can come in and do stuff.”

Rojas on Steve Cohen: "It's exciting. The passion, it's electric. I feel a lot of energy from our owner. Just to hear him talk and hear that he's connecting with our fan base as well. I think that's special the way that he does it."

Amed Rosario is going to take some reps as a third baseman in addition to shortstop going forward, Luis Rojas said.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) December 16, 2020
As for the idea of Rosario moving to the outfield...
"That's something that he's not doing, and we're not planning on doing right now with him," Rojas said.
If there's no DH, Luis Rojas will put Dom Smith in left field. "Dom works really hard, he wants to stay versatile, he knows what's going on, he's very professional about it. So let's wait and see what the final rule is on the universal DH."#Mets

Noah Syndergaard is "on schedule or maybe a little bit ahead of schedule" in his rehab from Tommy John surgery, Luis Rojas said.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) December 16, 2020
It has always seemed like a long-shot for Syndergaard to be ready for Opening Day. Some point in the first half seems more likely.
