A Happy recap it was. Murph, somewhere, is grinning.
Another series win, this time in chilly Denver.
Taijuan Walker proved to be the new ace of the staff, perhaps. Very nice, tidy win. 2–0, in a park in Colorado that doesn’t know from 2–0. Walker, Ottavino, and of course, Blazing Edwin.
Hustle, grit, Disco Nimmo doing the Hustle, a team never giving in, and of course Luis Guillorme, the new .338 hit machine of these New York Mets. Nice game from the Mighty Lindor, a key double from the Rocky Squirrel McNeil, and Pete Alonso cashes in RBI # 37.
Just keep it rolling.
In the minors, an interesting night in Brooklyn where Sherveyn Newton and Jaylen Palmer both had two home runs today in two Brooklyn wins (5-4, 3-1). Maybe there is thunder down under after all. And Nolan Clenney (2-2, 4.84) threw 5 one hit frames and fanned 8.
In Binghamton, a homer and a double from Ronny Mauricio and two more hits in a walk from the inimitable Wyatt Young. He is 37 for 114 in AA and AAA with 14 walks. How come he’s not in NY, already? Expand those rosters while he's still Young.
Syracuse, remarkably, was rained out in Buffalo on the same day that it was absolutely gorgeous sunny, mid-80s in New York City. Go figure. (We did get some passing showers in the evening, likely from the same system).
My wife and I were coming back around 1:00 PM from the Coney Island area and stopped at a little parking area to check out the little beach there - across the water was Kingsborough CC, which I worked a few new buildings on 46 years prior as a steamfitters' apprentice (an occupation I soon shed). How time does fly.
St. Lucie struggled a bit again today, but Alex Ramirez had another multi hit game and popped his head back over .350. Vasil went one scoreless inning, then came out. Hopefully, just a planned rest and not an injury.
All in all, a good Mets Sunday, and let’s bring on the week ahead of us, with hopefully several more wins and lots more excitement. (Do The Hustle).

My thoughts...
- The minor league player on focus today is Binghamton's RHP, Trey Cobb.
The 27-year old Cobb was an 8th round pick in 2017, out of the bullpen at Oklahoma State.
Frankly, up until his stint this season in Binghamton, he has mostly been an unsuccessful pen piece throughout his Mets career.
He even tanked earlier this season in Syracuse (3-apps. 6.00-ERA), but has seemed to find a second wind back in AA ball.
So far after last night: 1-ER in 15.1-IP, 21-Ks, and a miniscule 0.59-ERA.
- Featured college player today is a return to Tennessee junior RHRP, Ben Joyce. Joyce returned to the pen (my guess getting ready for the CWS playoffs that start this coming week) after one successful start.
This is the guy that set the record this year for the fastest pitch ever thrown in college at 105.5 mph.
Yesterday, as described by writers, Joyce 'sat at 102'.
Read that again...
"Sat at 102".

- Slow out of the gate again. Doesn't it seem like we are always begging this team to score early,?
- I think we witnessed today a little bit of the Lindor we were hoping to see when Steve handed him that contract.
-Props to our new ace Taijon Walker, that combined with 3 relievers to hand the Rockies their first home shutout since August 2020.
-Can we at least start Luis Guillorme at third against the right-handers?
-Still light offense but I will take another series win.

Yeah, Mack, and another guy just went a single inning too. Maybe it is a new strategy...give them an occasional break of sorts without skipping a start altogether, to avoid overuse injuries.
I wish they did that with Max Scherzer.
Interesting tidbit: Mets were 9-17 in May 1962, meaning they were an even more horrible 31-103 (.231) in the other months.
Any thoughts on the Yankees' Josh Donaldson situation?
I will say one thing - it seems to have slowed their momentum this weekend.
I honestly think this is an example of ignorance of how the world has changed around us since the George Floyd incident.
Blacks are not going to take anymore black jokes from white people.
Donaldson may have even thought he was paying him a compliment.
It may have been innocent razzing - or not - but as you said, whole new world. Loose lips....
I know comedians are scared to say the one wrong thing....
It will be interesting to see how the Donaldson thing plays out.
Better keep alert when black pitchers face him.
Was at the doubleheader in Brooklyn yesterday. Both times Palmer hit a homer, I was at the concession stand buying drinks (it was beastly hot there, even right near the water). Did see both of Newton's homers (one from each side of the plate). Peroza also homered and doubled in Game #1.
Clenney looked to have really good stuff. Brought the heat and got a lot of swing-and-misses.
Maybe I can bring the Rumbles Ponies some luck in July. :)
