#56        Nick Becker        SS, Don Bosco Prep (NJ)

18/yrs old        6' 3"        180

COMMITTED  -  Virginia

Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50

Hailing from the small hamlet of Thiells, New York, Becker heads about half an hour south across the state border to attend high school at Don Bosco Prep, which to date, has produced one big leaguer: Angels right-hander Caden Dana. It’s where his older brother, Eric, now a sophomore at the University of Virginia, went and both learned from their father, Jeff, a Duke player who spent two summers in Cleveland’s Minor League system. Nick has the chance to be better than either of them.

With an athletic and projectable frame, Becker has some now tools he displayed at summer showcase events like the Area Code Games to go along with strength gains to dream on as he adds to his 6-foot-3 frame. The right-handed-hitting infielder already has good bat-to-ball skills and excellent hitting instincts, finding the barrel consistently and showing the ability to make adjustments in the box. It’s easy to expect at least average power in the future as he gets stronger and learns to leverage his swing more, something he’s sure to do without sacrificing his hit tool.

Already possessing solid speed, Becker could eventually be a plus runner as he physically matures. That will only help his solid defensive foundation get better. He has plenty of arm and good actions which point to a long-term future at shortstop. His combination of intangibles, makeup and tools should make him very intriguing to teams in the top few rounds, though his commitment to follow his brother to Virginia could be a high hurdle to clear.

20. Nicky Becker – SS

HT/WT: 6’3/180 | Bat/Throw: R/R | School: Don Bosco Prep (NY) | Commitment: Virginia | Age: 18.7

Scouts are well acquainted with the Becker family, as Jeff played in Cleveland’s organization and Eric is expected to be a key piece in Virginia’s loaded offense as a sophomore.

Nicky is the next one in line and he’s as tooled up as they come, possessing one of the better power/speed packages in the class. He’s grown to 6’3, 180 pounds, and possesses a lean, projectable frame with standout athleticism on the diamond.

Becker has extremely quick hands and effortless bat speed, showing off solid power output to his pull side. Becker finds the barrel consistently and his pure contact skills are advanced with minimal warts. It’s a well-rounded offensive profile with the potential for average or better raw juice.

Becker is a plus to double-plus runner with great jumps and a loud second gear down the line. This speed allows him to cover plenty of ground at shortstop, where he’s a strong defender with solid footwork, big arm strength, and a good internal clock.

Finding this kind of potential at a keystone position is hard and that’s what has drawn attention towards him late in the summer. If he goes undrafted, he’d join Eric in Charlottesville.

Nicky Becker SS / Don Bosco Prep, NJ / 2025

If we are talking “Dickerson Doppelgangers” why not return to North Jersey for another highly athletic, ultra-intriguing infield prospect. Hailing from national power Don Bosco Prep, Becker had a monster spring for the Ironmen before maintaining his prowess throughout a big summer. At 6-foot-3, 180-pounds, he passes the eye-test with ease, and the look of a plus-athlete with above average speed helps his profile at shortstop while the right-handed stick provided ample to bat-to-ball skill with sneaky power that is likely to develop much more in coming years as the frame continues filling out. Built in a similar mold to his brother Eric who enjoyed a nice freshman campaign at Virginia before blasting off throughout the summer as a must-follow name for ‘26, the bloodlines might help bolster the younger Becker’s status with regards to this year’s draft.
