B-Mets Battle to 2-2 Draw with Cardinals
JUPITER, FL – The Binghamton Mets and Springfield Cardinals played to a 2-2 tie in Spring Training action at the Florida home of the St. Louis Cardinals today.
Alonzo Harris drove in both B-Mets runs and led the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with a double. Harris was selected in the 39th round of the 2007 draft out of McComb HS (MS). He hit .287 over 116 games with the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) last year, spending most of his time in the outfield. Dustin Lawley and Joe Bonfe each provided two hits to support the offense.
On the hill, California native Erik Goeddel stole the spotlight, firing three scoreless innings of one-hit relief. Goeddel compiled a 3.41 ERA over 20 starts with St. Lucie in 2012.
Hansel Robles started and allowed one run in two innings of work. Robles led the New York-Penn League with a 1.11 ERA in 2012 and was the Sterling Award winner for the Brooklyn Cyclones (SS-A). He was added to the New York Mets’ 40-man roster during the offseason and appeared in two Grapefruit League games earlier this spring.
The B-Mets enjoy a camp day tomorrow before heading back to Jupiter to play the Jacksonville Suns on Thursday.
