Suns Top B-Mets in Spring Action, 11-7
JUPITER, FL – The Jacksonville Suns jumped out to an early lead and defeated the Binghamton Mets, 11-7, today in Minor League Spring Training action at the Miami Marlins Spring Training complex.
B-Mets starter Logan Verrett was touched for eight runs on nine hits over four innings in the loss. A third-round selection in the 2011 draft, the Texan split time between the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) and St. Lucie Mets (High-A) last season, going 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA.
Aderlin Rodriguez shined on offense, driving in four runs with a two-hit game. The Dominican native hit .263 in 125 games between Savannah and St. Lucie in 2012. Francisco Pena, a 2012 Binghamton Met, also homered.
The B-Mets return home to host the Springfield Cardinals tomorrow in Port St. Lucie.
