I'd like to thank Joe DeCaro over at Metssmerized, Adam Rubin of ESPN, Toby Hyde of MetsMinorLeagueBlog, and Matt Cerrone on MetsBlog for the 'hat tip' on my Michael Fulmer 'flash'. All are professional gentlemen to acknowledge the information I had sent them rather than question it like some of the unnamed blogging yahoos out there. Folks, there's a reason most of the beat press doesn't acknowledge what we bloggers do and it's not because they are afraid we are going to take their jobs away. No, it's because so many of the bloggers out there are just crude, stupid fans hiding behind a computer trying to convince the Mets world that they should be recognized as a 'writer'. They aren't writers. They are pond scum with a mouse pad.
Boy, I can't believe how much positive press Jordany Valdespin is getting these days. Thank God it isn't going to his head and causing him to leave pictures of himself all over the Internet.
Seriously, I have never questioned his talent and others have written that he is currently fighting it out with Kirk Nieuwenhuis for the fifth and last outfield slot (Byrd, Duda, Cowgill, Baxter) come opening day. In my world, there's no battle here. He offers so much more diversification than the Captain, being able to play both in the infield and all three outfield positions. He also might be fifth in power potential behind Davis, Wright, Buck, and Duda.
Give him the job. He's earned it.
And while we're on the subject of this... nut... job.
Okay, we all remember all the… junk… I have written about Jordany Valdespin.
Yes, he is a… nut… job.
Sometimes he can be a… dick.
His pictures of himself online make him look like a… pecker… wood…
He does hug the plate and move inward on the pitch which is kind of… hard… on… his body…
I noticed on bunts that he really tends to… crotch… down before extending the bat…
In the future he might want to consider putting his coffee in his… cup… before taking the field.
Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal wrote a nice article on Matt den Dekker and tried to determine the minimum batting average dD has to hit to make the team this year. I really wish that Terry Collins would take this off the table and tell the press that he will not go to Flushing in April. Let the kid go to Vegas and work some more on his swing. Let's put him on the same timetable as Zack Wheeler or even Travis d'Arnaud. These are your future 2014 stars and the Mets need to have a little patience here (as well as the fans).

This is such horseshit. A beat reporter friend of mine says he's not talking to any of the reporters throughout the complex as if it is their fault he wasn't allowed to pitch for his country.
DON'T TELL ME THIS ISN'T EGO. You don't know this guy. He's been a prima donna since the day he put a Mets uniform on.
Put the guy on the DL and send him to the DSL complex until you can work out a deal for him. Don't let him come back, period.
Get him out of Florida so the rest of the team can get back to playing baseball without drama. Then, finish off your rotation this year with Jeremy Hefner until Zack Wheeler is ready. Fuck Johan and his supposed dead arm.
AND STOP WITH THIS LONG ASS CONTRACTS.
I didn't expect this, but I am sort of hooked on the World Baseball Classic. I know these teams are missing a lot of the primary stars in the game, but still, it's a hoot watching all this baseball in March.
I hope you're enjoying David Wright. He obviously is ready and I'm sure the Mets will be able to find a slot for him somewhere on this team (thank God he's on the 40-man which is a mess :).
My money remains on the Dominicans though the Japanese always are the favorite.
And Thursday night? David Wright vs. Jose Reyes.
I noticed that P Jenrry Mejia got back in a game and pitched a
scoreless inning this week. Word from camp is that he’s been mound ready for
quite a while after working out at the DSL complex while he waited for his visa
problems to work out. Still, I can’t see any chance of him breaking camp and
going to Queens. He simply needs the work. No, he’ll go to Las Vegas and pitch
SP2 behind Zack Wheeler and, with all the Johan Santana drama bulllshit going on, could see
himself back in Queens pretty quickly.
Oh yeah, about the
picture… Mejia is a friend of mine on FB and this is his latest “hey Spin isn’t
the only camera-tool around here” picture :)
We’ve got a new writer
here at Mack’s Mets. “Savannah Bug Spray” joins
us and will cover all the Sand Gnats games he can talk his wife into letting
him attend. ‘Bug’ is a big time muckity-muck General Manager for a car
dealership in Savannah and comes from a baseball family, so it’s great to have
him aboard. He joins both Wally Murphy and me
who also report from Savannah, though I don’t attend like I used to.
