“Charles” brought up an interesting question
earlier this week which made me realize that I need to update just what the
Mets are looking at when the 11th pick comes up in June.
First… there still are some locks in the first
ten picks.
Indiana State LHP Sean
Manaea, Loganville HS (GA) OF Clint Frazier,
Stanford RHP Mark Appel, Grayson HS (GA) OF Austin Meadows, and Arkansas RHP Ryne Stanek are still going to be gone before the Mets
pick comes up.
But… add the name of Oklahoma RHP Jonathan Gray. Some have Gray as high as 3rd
overall after producing stats so far this year of: 5-G, 4-1, 1.51, 39-K, 8-BB,
35.2-IP.
Frankly, there shouldn’t be another outfielder
chosen until the Mets picks; however, there is a good chance that San Diego 3B Kris Bryant will be picks and he is projected to be
moved to a corner outfield position.
The rest of the names being tossed around for
those four picks are North Carolina 3B Collin Moran,
Vanderbilt LHP Kevin Ziomek, Mississippi RHP Bobby Wahl, Jacksonville RHP Chris
Anderson, Kentwood HS (WA) catcher Reese McGuire,
and Bryant.
This would leave a very talented outfield pool
of Samford’s Phillip Ervin (.373/.505/.747,
7-HR), Red Wing HS (MN) Ryan Boldt, Fresno State’s
Aaron Judge (.297/.388/.500, 3-HR), Vanderbilt’s Tony
Kemp (.442/.542/.584, 0-HR), and UCLA’s Austin
Wilson (injured).
