Mack Ade - 13 Things The Mets Need To Do Post Haste

I feel like I’m writing for The Bleacher Report.

Release RP Frank Francisco. He’s never coming back and just stands around badly influencing the young Latin kids. Let him take what’s left of his six million dollars with him and let this be another lesson to Sandy Alderson.

Release P Hansel Robles . His currently velocity is around 10mph below what he used to throw in Brooklyn and he doesn’t seem to care to work on that (or, is there really anything there he can ‘work’ on?). He has no future on this team and probably none in baseball either. Send him home.

Release P D.J. Mitchell from Las Vegas. Collin McHugh will most probably return to the rotation this week and the Mets need to give this slot to someone that has a future with this team.

Release P Robert Carson. Carson’s talent peaked at the AA-level and, frankly, what went on in Queens and continues in Las Vegas is simply embarrassing both for him and the team. Give the guy his papers and let him clear his head before he ties on with a new organization.

Release P Christian Montgomery. Being a recovered substance and alcohol survivor myself, I have zero tolerance for this shit at the professional baseball level. He has a nice bonus that can help get him any rehab he needs, but I’d rather have all the druggies off the team, thank you.

Promote SP Logan Verrett to Las Vegas. Yes, it might be a tad too early, but, if you really want to showcase this guy, you’re going to have to let the PCL scouts get a peek at him. He can fill Michell’s slot.

Fill Verrett’s slot in Binghamton with Noah Syndergaard and keep the six-man rotation going. Again, maybe a tad too early, but the future is now.

Promote Kevin Plawecki to St. Lucie. Frankly, you can take your pick from Cam Maron and Albert Cordero and send one to Binghamton, which sets up the next move.

Release C Xorge Carillo (career: .188). This is a draft pick that simply never panned out. Feel free to make him an extended camp catcher, but that’s all.

Promote Brandon Nimmo to St. Lucie. The ticky injury really didn’t slow down his progress and he’s ready for the next level.

Figure out a way to both promote Jayce Boyd to St. Lucie and get him his at-bats there. Ike Davis and Eric Campbell are in Vegas, Alan Dykstra is in Binghamton, and Aderlin Rodriguez is in St. Lucie. Someone has to go.

There are three decent catchers still unassigned that came out of Latin America: Adrian Abreu, Jose Garcia, and Manuel Hilario. Make sure they are all on either the GCL or Kingsport team.

While we’re at it, throw in infielders German Rosario, Ahmed Rosario, Leon Canelon, Alfredo Reyes, Pedro Perez, and outfielders Vincente Lupo and Wuillmer Becerra. We need to see what we have here.

It's definitely time for some promotions.

Promotions will happen after the FSL and SAL All star games.

No need to release guys unless they are blocking other prospects or have reached arbitration/minor league free agency
