NY Post: Mets-Yankees’ Subway Series opener rained out. “The game…will be made up as part of a split-admission doubleheader on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. The second game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.”

NY Post: What Brandon Nimmo’s return could mean for Mets’ offense. “Before the injury, Nimmo was among the team’s few consistent hitters. He entered play with a .318/.430/.439 slash line, with one homer and eight RBIs. His return will mean less playing time for Kevin Pillar, who had assumed the bulk of the center field duties in Nimmo’s absence. Nimmo’s return also allowed manager Luis Rojas to shift struggling Jeff McNeil to the No. 6 spot in the batting order.”

NY Post: Mets hopeful Marcus Stroman in better place mentally after bereavement stint

NY Post: The team announced on Friday that it has acquired left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda from San Francisco for Double-A infielder Will Toffey. Banda, 27, has pitched to a 6.86 ERA across 39.1 innings this season with Triple-A Sacramento. He has a career 5.96 ERA in 18 major league games across parts of four seasons with the Diamondbacks and Rays, last appearing in the majors with Tampa Bay during the 2020 season.”

Gus Lividitis Mets360.com: Were the Mets lucky with Taijuan Walker or did they know something?  Gus looks back how only the Mets and a Brewers Blogger thought a deal for Walker made sense.

SNY.TV: Sources: Mets considering third base upgrades, including Josh Donaldson. It’s not clear if the Cubs are going to sell, but the Mets have been interested in Kris Bryant since the offseason.

SNY.TV: Jacob deGrom named NL Pitcher of the Month. First Met to win award twice in same season. Across five starts for the Mets in June, deGrom went 3-0 with 40 strikeouts, just four walks and a 0.67 ERA over 27.0 innings of work.

NY Post: Mets avoiding Trevor Bauer headache should be major lesson learned.

Mack's guy Wagner Lagrange had 7 RBIs in a double header yesterday - good for him.

Glad the Bauer Circus didn't come to town. One would think that where there is smoke, there is fire.

4 doubleheaders coming up - a perfect time for Megill to show he belongs in the majors.

Nimmo - hopefully the hitting version is back - he hit lousy in rehab.

Mazeika sent down, but his getting on 8 times out of 24 PA, and just 3 Ks, has to make management feel they have a reliable 3rd catcher.

Tim - I agree that Mazeika makes so much sense on the roster as a 3rd string catcher and lefty bat off the bench. With all these double headers though they need the extra pitchers. Hopefully they can carry less pitchers later this season and Mazeika can come back.
