Francisco Lindor has had a 3 tiered Mets’ career so far:
1) Torrid spring training stretch, in which he essentially “aced the interview” and won himself a $341 million contract.
2) A totally comatose first 5 weeks where he was hitting .152. He then hit slightly over .200 for the rest of May, leaving him below .200 and with very few homers and RBIs. His first two months were the polar opposite of his torrid spring “contract drive” stretch.
3) June forward, despite a 30+ game injury absence, the real Lindor largely returned. He has hit in the .250s over that stretch but also with a walk roughly once every 8-9 times up, and has 13 HRs, 11 other XBHs, 41 RBIs, and 42 runs in that roughly 55-60 game stretch.
I dunno about you, but I’ll take the 3rd phase Lindor offensively, along with his stellar defense, any time.
You just have to not focus on his season-long numbers, as they were diminished by his missed month + and his glacial season start.
And heck, if he wants to go “MVP” on us and hit 3 HRs a game, I am ready for that Phase 4.

It was good seeing emotion (and HRs) from Lindor last night, but he doesn't appear to be the same type of hothead as his buddy at 2B.
If Baez and Lindor together can push each other to prolific hothead status, that might be something to consider in signing Baez.
Of course, if both were signed long term and faded early, that would be an albatross to our new deep pockets owner. A fascinating off season lies ahead. But maybe the moribund hitting Mets can totally catch fire and catch the Braves. The Mets sure hit well this weekend. Boy, was that refreshing.
