Mack - Draft Thoughts - Anthony Hall, Brandon Barriera, Andrew Dutkanych, Peyton Graham

9-6-21 - BA - Top Cape Prospects 25-50  -

31. Anthony Hall, OF, Falmouth (Third-year sophomore, Oregon)

Hall had a strong spring at Oregon and carried that momentum into the summer with Falmouth. He hit .283/.382/.481 with four home runs, emerging as one of the Commodores’ top hitters.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Hall has an athletic, projectable build. The lefthanded hitter made strides as a hitter this summer, improving his approach at the plate and increasingly using the whole field. He has some power, particularly when he pulls the ball, and projects for above-average juice. He’s a patient hitter and can work walks. Hall split his time with Falmouth between center and left field, but profiles best in a corner. He’s an average runner.

2021 Oregon stat line - 50-G, 168-AB, .286/.342/.470, 6-HR

Mack's spin -

Hall enters my board as the 27th OFer.

17. Brandon Barriera

Left-Handed Pitcher, American Heritage HS

Simply put, Barriera has some of the best stuff in the 2022 class, from the left side no less. It’s a stress-free operation with very little effort and seamless fluidity. Barriera has been up to 97 with significant arm speed and athleticism on the mound. He sits 92-94 in late innings. He’s got a wipeout slider that tunnels the heater well, diving on right-handed hitters and disappearing for lefty bats. He’s shown good feel for a changeup with solid separation and depth. He’s also shown a cutter to lefties. It’s a bulldog mentality, filling up the strikeout and coming right at hitters with attitude. Just 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Barriera is still getting more and more physical as he matures into more strength.

 9-3-21 - Mack @JohnMackinAde

Give me three players you hope will still be on the board on Day 1 when the Giants pick near the end of the draft?

Brian Recca - @brian_recca

Brandon Barriera, LHP, American Heritage (FL)- seems to take his game to a new level each time out. Up to 96 and the fastball has some filthy darting action. Both secondaries show plus potential and he more than looks the part physically

Mack's spin -

Everybody loves Brandon.

I do too and can't wait to see what he dishes out this year.

On my board: #5 LHP

9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

36 Andrew Dutkanych

RHP

Brebeuf Jesuit Prep

Indianapolis, IN Andrew Dutkanych presents an ideal starting pitcher frame with broad shoulders and tons of projection remaining. He's got an extremely quick arm and the athleticism on the mound is absolutely incredible. Fastball with get up to 96 with serious intent. Projects to throw very hard. Dutkanych has a firm slider into the upper 80s, as well as a loopier curveball in the mid-70s. One of the more projectable athletes on the mound in the class. Significant upside.

9-1-21 - MLB - Top high school prospects for '22 Draft

10. Andrew Dutkanych IV, RHP, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory (Ind.)

College commitment: Vanderbilt

There might be other right-handers with better pure stuff than Dutkanych, but it's still very good, and his feel for it stands out. He touched 95 mph at events like MLB’s High School All-American Game and the Perfect Game All-American Classic, and he has a mid-80s slider with cutter-like action to go along with a distinct curve.

Mack's spin -

I'm being told that Dutkanych will be a toughie to wrangle away from Vanderbilt.

My board: 8th RHP.

 9-9-21 - Prospects Live - 2022 MLB DRAFT - TOP 150 PROSPECTS -

32 Peyton Graham

3B

Oklahoma

Waxahachie, TX Incredibly impressive freshman campaign hitting .368 and punishing the baseball. Played an exceptional third base in the abbreviated season. Graham was slowed a bit in 2021 by strikeouts, but the power took a step forward and he took his walks. It's a mature approach that suggests a fairly complete hitter moving forward. He's got a premier, projectable body that might move him to third base at the pro level, but he handles shortstop well for the time being.

 24. PEYTON GRAHAM, 3B/SS

 OKLAHOMA (2022): Y-D RED SOX

Hit Power Arm Field Run FV

30/55 20/45 55/60 45/55 55/60 5

Good feel for the barrel. Hits to all fields. Athletic body with room to add overall body strength to frame. Increase in upper body strength could result in a greater power output. Ability to play all over the infield. Athletic enough to play OF. Above average arm strength at all positions in field.

2021 Oklahoma stat line - 53-G, 215-AB, 58-K, 30-BB, .288, 11-HR

Mack's spin -

I want to see Graham improve on his 2021 output before I get overly excited here.

Still, due to moderate 3B talent this year, I currently have him as my 3rd 3B.
