A fair amount of decent hitting, especially at the lower levels. Shawn Bowman put up another year of decent numbers and has now has two seasons in a row without an injury. It will be very interesting to see if he gets through the Rule V process. This completed his seventh season as a Mets minor league player and he will play next year at only 25-years old.

Richard Lucas gets the comeback third baseman of the year, by stepping back a level and starting over in rookie ball. He’s still only 20 years old.

But the real prospect here is Zach Lutz, whose bat finally woke up this year in Lucy. Anyone that has seen this kid play said he looks to have it all.

Promoted To Mets: You gotta be kidding me…

On The Way Out: Where do I start… Lamb, Castillo, Kiger, Eigsti, Bouchard
Helium Watch: Charlie Hinojosa turned some heads in GCL (4th highest BA in league) and definitely earned a promotion

Current 2010 Projection:

AAA: Bowman
AA: Lutz
A+: Lucas/Bonfe
A: Marte
Low-A: Hinojosa
K-Port: Rodriquez

In Summary:

For years, Mets pundits have wondered out loud if David Wright would be eventually moved to first base some day. Trust me… the Mets have many more pressing matters to worry about than this.

Jenry Marte had a horrible season, but he’s young enough to survive it. Lutz will progress, and will be MLB ready in 2011, but Wright is going nowhere. One, or both of these guys, will eventually get more second base time.

its a shame Bowman didnt get a cup of coffee, after all the back injuries to finally put together good seasons with a solid bat and soft hands he deserved it. Especially instead of a no future Tatis filling in at third for DW. The Mets have the room to protect Bowman but will they, they currently have Argenis Reyes, Andy Green and Arturo lopez on the 40 man.

Sadly, I can't see Bowman being protects. I hope some small market team picks him up and he gets his shot. He deserves it.
