90. Eddie Lora – 1B – Rookie – 21/yrs.
Lora was signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2007 as an undrafted international free agent.
Scouting report: - Dominican 1B with a great frame, has really filled out nicely for his age. High power potential with good present pop. Strikes out far too much. In 2008, Lora impressed all around in the DSL, but fell flat during a mid-season promotion to the GCL.

Lora had 216 at bats for the DSL Red Sox in 2007, batting .222/.367/.319/686. He went back to the DSL team in 2008, batted .300/.455/.492/.947, and was named the DSL player of the year for the Red Sox. He had 5-HRs, 6-doubles and 26-RBI in 120-AB.
He came stateside late in 2008, and finished the season with the GCL Red Sox (.000).
This year, he had 99-AB for the GCL red Sox, batting only .222/.287/.414/.701, with 3-HR.
From http://www.rotoworld.com/: Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal reports that the Red Sox have sent minor league first baseman Eddie Lora to the Mets to complete the Billy Wagner trade. Lora, 20, batted .222/.287/.414 with three homers and seven RBI in 99 at-bats with the Red Sox Gulf Coast League affiliate in rookie ball. He was not regarded as one of the organization's top 30 prospects according to Baseball America, but he has a nice frame, which could translate to increased power production in the years to come.

Forecast: The Mets got Lora, along with 1B Chris Carter, and a savings of $3.5mil, for Billy Wagner. Lots of Mets blogs are tearing this deal apart since the Mets lost a 1st round draft pick if they had just let Wagner go free agent in the off season, but Carter is an outstanding minor leaguer who can back up Murphy at first until Ike Davis is ready, Lora did have a huge season in 2008 for the DSL team, and Fred Wilpon gets to fix the leaks in the new stadium with the $3.5mil. I like the deal.
